Thank you Sutton Women's Centre for inviting us to the Freedom Programme Resources Day at Tweedale Children’s Centre! 🌟 Our Social Prescribing team spent time connecting with amazing community members, discussing the challenges some have been facing, and highlighting key local support services and healthcare resources. And it was great to share our table with the Community Pharmacists who were sharing useful advice around stopping smoking! #CommunitySupport #HealthAndWellbeing #LocalResources #PrimaryCare #SocialPrescribingLinkWorker #Resources #StopSmoking #Pharmacist #SocialPrescribing #Pharmacists #Health #Event #Sutton #Wellbeing

Here's another example of why VidaTalk is so important. There's a living human being on the other end of every ventilator. And yes many of them do not speak English. They have so much they want to say. Give them a way to tell you what they're feeling, what they need and express themselves as an individual. It could be their last chance to say anything at all. ⚠️ Medicare’s expanded coverage for virtual PT ends in 2024 unless legislation is passed to extend it. ⚠️ Virtual physical therapy (PT), which grew rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has become a game-changer for millions of Americans, especially those in underserved communities. It’s proven effective, offering the same results as in-person therapy and increasing engagement—especially among older adults. However, Medicare’s expanded coverage for virtual PT is set to expire at the end of 2024, unless Congress steps in. Some bills propose a two-year extension, but advocates are calling for permanent coverage to ensure continued access to this cost-effective, patient-friendly service. As healthcare workers, we should recognize two common communication challenges with elderly patients: over-accommodation and under-accommodation. Over-accommodation happens when we unintentionally stereotype elderly patients, treating them as if they were babies, leading to 'secondary baby talk,' which can frustrate and irritate them. On the other hand, under-accommodation occurs when we fail to account for age-related communication barriers, neglecting the specific needs of the patient. So, how can we avoid these communication barriers? We can do this by avoiding stereotyping and instead, tailoring communication to the patient's individual needs. #healthcareworkers #skillsformed #communication

Health complications related to inappropriate contraceptive use have decreased by 15% since the introduction of the WHO MEC wheel in Nepal (NHRC, 2022). The WHO Medical Eligibility Criteria (MEC) wheel helps healthcare providers make clients to have informed decisions about family planning methods. It categorizes these methods into four risk levels based on medical conditions, allowing service providers to quickly identify the safest options for each individual. Access to community for better healthcare provision would be the better policy action to be adopted through community medical officers instead of lady health workers. This will not only improve primary health care but also cross the barriers of limited access of community to healthcare facilities. Like mobile clinics facilitate patients at doorstep, community medical officers male and females must be appointed in both urban and rural regions who will check patients at their homes and then medicines may be delivered to their doorstep. This step will specially help disabled community and female community who cannot go out because of disability or some cultural issues respectively. It may also promote early diagnosis, prompt treatment and reduce mortalities through enhancing good quality of life. #primaryhealthcare #doctors #PolicyImpact #MedicalOfficer #drshahbazzakki

⏹ Update: Legislation: Its not just rate reimbursements, audits, time off mandates and certification that we are focused on. There are ongoing areas of possible legislation that impact our members. The latest: unionization in home care. in personal care, home- and community-based services (HCBS) and home health care. If you’re not already aware, here is a summary article. https://lnkd.in/exSE3w3k This would have a 👉🏻 major impact on the industry, and ultimately the care provided. We need an all-hands-on deck approach. Reach out to discuss! #virginia #homecare #aginginplace #homecareservices #legislation #pendinglegislation #congress
