Did you know these 6 facts about the Buffalo? • The hump of a Buffalo is composed of strong muscles that assist this larger-than-life mammal in running. • The muscles help the Buffalo's front legs reach out farther, providing a longer and more efficient running stride. • The hump also supports the Buffalo’s very large head. • The hair or fur on the Buffalo’s head, shoulders, and front legs is crucial for their survival. The thick fur on the front end keeps flies and other biting insects away as the fur and skin are too thick for them to penetrate. • The tail and back legs achieve the same protective function at the back end. • The Buffalo's short, thinner hair at the hind end helps keep these larger-than-life relatives cool during hot, shadeless prairie days. The Fifth Day of Yule: Honoring Community and Giving Back On the 5th day of Yule, we celebrate the spirit of community and the connections that bind us together. This day is an opportunity to show gratitude for the support of others and to give back to the people and places that make our communities thrive. Yule reminds us that even in the darkest days of winter, we can be a light for those in need. Small acts of kindness can have a profound impact on others and help weave the fabric of a strong and caring community. ✨ Ways to Celebrate Community on the Fourth Day of Yule: • Feed the Unhoused: Prepare meals, donate food, or volunteer your time with a local organization that supports unhoused individuals. Warm meals and care can go a long way during the winter months. • Share Your Skills or Products: If you run a business, consider donating items, services, or a portion of your profits to local shelters, food banks, or support groups. • Support Local Organizations: Offer your time to a group that aligns with your values—whether it’s helping at an animal shelter, mentoring youth, or working with environmental initiatives. • Acts of Neighborly Kindness: Check in on neighbors, especially the elderly or those living alone, and offer assistance like shoveling snow or running errands. Celebrating community is about sharing the abundance we have, however small, to uplift others. Together, we can create warmth and connection during this sacred season. ✨ Blessed Yule! ✨

April is National Volunteer Month, giving you the perfect opportunity to do good in the world whether you have an hour or an afternoon to spend helping others. Here are some fun ways to lend a hand and make an impact on your community: *Park Clean Up - Grab some bags and invite your pals to spend a few hours on trash duty at your favorite green space. *Donate Books - If you have books, magazines or other reading materials collecting dust, put them to good use and donate to a local school or library. *Meals on Wheels - Find a local organization that delivers meals to those in need and see how you can help. Additionally, if you have a friend or neighbor who needs access to food, contact the organization and assist with the paperwork. *Letter Writing – Show members of the military your appreciation with a handwritten letter thanking them for their service and sacrifice. Write a service member you know personally or check out an organization like Operation Gratitude. Include drawings from the youngest members of the family! *Animal Shelter - Help your local animal shelter by donating bags of food, walking animals or taking a dog or cat home for the weekend to give them a break from shelter life. #NationalVolunteerMonth #HelpingOthers #LendAHand
