I'm the type of person that when conflict, frustration or even humiliation happen in my life - I see out help. I look for support, counsel and even hope that the ebbs and flows of life will move soon into more positive pastures. In my professional career, managing the journey of a job takes time. I like to understand what it is currently as well as what it could be. I also like to help those around me. It's a bit of an Achilles heel. I look for ways to help other people to build bridges which ultimately reinforces trust. I like that, but sometimes it doesn’t work out. This week, I had one of those moments where in the very best of intentions, to help a coworker, something blew up in my face. It didnt just blownup in my face, but despite laying out a clear process of what happened, it was deemed to be my fault. It's now going to lead to a lot of work, and what I had originally envisioned and hoped for to be a positive experience, has created some trust rifts. And its a bummer. I bring this up because, going into a weekend, sometimes things like this happen to us all. If youre like me, you take it as a personal failure, but it also, on a Friday, it can kill a weekend trip to Austin (that I am on now). Again, if you're like me, you might be wondering what to do when situations like this happen and you have a limited support system in your life. I found this helpful in my quest for knowledge. Whether it’s tolerating a toxic relationship, settling for a job that doesn’t fulfill us, or accepting a subpar work environment, compromise is a part of life.
