Imagine joining a MedTech startup focused on implantable medical devices. Among the many milestones, the ultimate goal is to bring such a device to the patient, and this is why First-in-Human Studies come into play. This journey is complex, requiring dedicated efforts from (but not limited to) development, regulatory, and financial perspectives, each with specific key milestones. Today Innovation Norway and DNB were proud to present the selected companies for the new Healthcare Innovation Accelerator program at the DNB Nordic Healthcare Conference in Oslo. With a collaboration between the Mayo Clinic Innovation Exchange, Destination Medical Center (DMC) and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York, Innovation Norway and DNB // Back Bay are proud to arrange this accelerator. A lot of companies applied for the accelerator program and 8 up-and-coming and U.S. ready companies were selected. The selected companies for the Healthcare Innovation Accelererator 2024/2025 are: Nordic Brain Tech AS GlucoSet Induvita AS Nordiq Products AS ExAC AS Deepinsight RESPINOR AS Sensocure AS Healthcare is an important industry for Norway. The Norwegian government’s national export strategy aims to increase exports in selected industries with healthcare being one of them. The U.S. is one of the main markets for Norwegian innovative healthcare companies, and the accelerator is dedicated to scaling healthcare companies and bridge the Norwegian and U.S. markets. Experts from Aleap, Thommessen, Sopra Steria, DNV, Onsagers AS and Patentstyret - Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO) will provide the participants in the accelerator program with valuable insights into common challenges and unwanted surprises and how to solve or avoid them. Ergo-ego has already started teaching the participants about performing and pitching. Here are some key takeaways: Tourist investors are expected to continue to pull back from the sector, while healthcare incumbents will strike more partnerships with startups. Open-source and small, specialized AI models will gain popularity. Regulatory activity will drive investment in data privacy, AI validation, and infrastructure monitoring. Longevity medicine is expected to go mainstream, with a focus on preventative care models and personalized recommendations. A new wave of value-based care businesses will emerge in specialties like cardiology, neurology, and oncology. Commercial payers will push the value-based care agenda forward. The Inflation Reduction Act's impact on drug development will continue to be debated. AI-driven drug discovery and development is expected to take center stage.
