🌍 The national workshop on "Consolidating North Macedonia’s Institutional Framework for Circular Economy Transition" was held yesterday in Skopje. ♻️ Our Head of Sustainability, Sirma Zheleva, attended at the invitation of UNECE, where she shared our company’s best practices for advancing the shift to a circular model in the textile industry, as well as the economic, regulatory, and consumer challenges involved in this process. 🌿 North Macedonia has made progress by adopting key strategies and frameworks aligned with EU standards, including sustainable development, waste management, and climate action plans. Events like this aim to further assist policymakers and regulators in successfully integrating sustainable practices into resource use and production. They not only provide a platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge but also create opportunities for building meaningful partnerships that facilitate the transition to a circular economy. #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #UNECE #TextileIndustry #TexCycle

ASEAN’s growth demands a shift to a #CircularEconomy, ensuring sustainability and inclusivity. Explore how the #3RproMar project is integrating #JustTransition principles to make this transition equitable for all. #GIZ #ASEAN
🚀 The ASEAN region is rapidly advancing in economic development, urbanisation, and population growth. However, this progress brings the challenge of managing increasing waste generation. The profound environmental impact of plastic pollution highlights the need to transition to a #CircularEconomy—an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources. This would create jobs and generate further economic growth and ensure value is created from what we discard. Current circular models excel in promoting environmental sustainability, but they often overlook social aspects. Therefore, it is crucial to embed #JustTransition principles into new circular models. A just transition to a circular economy ensures an inclusive shift to regenerative business, creating a holistic impact on society and the environment while ensuring no one is left behind. In assessing the inclusivity of #WasteManagement practices and circular economy principles within the ASEAN region, the German-ASEAN cooperation project #3RproMar worked together with Yunus Environment Hub to conduct a study titled “Towards a Sustainable Future: Recommendations for a Just Transition in Waste Management and Circular Economy in the ASEAN Region.” This study focuses on: 🔄Integrating just transition principles throughout the plastic value chain. ⚖️Fostering a more equitable and sustainable framework. 📝Providing key recommendations for stakeholders to implement. 🌍 I am thrilled to have attended the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) Regional Conference on the Circular Economy at the United Nations Headquarters, in Geneve, as an Ambassador for the international NGO Hecho Por Nosotros, which holds consultative status in the ECOSOC of the UN. The conference focused on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12, addressing Sustainable Consumption and Production. In the past six years, the world has consumed nearly as many materials as in the entire 20th century, with a noticeable decline in circularity. The majority of this overshoot occurs in higher-income and middle-income countries, many of which are UNECE member States. Since April 2021, UNECE has prioritized circular economy transformation and sustainable use of natural resources, developing normative instruments to guide member States in leveraging innovation, infrastructure financing, and trade for a circular economy transition. This conference reviewed these instruments and shared initial lessons learned, providing a platform for Circular STEP focal points and ETIN members to contribute to ongoing efforts in supporting this transition. At Hecho Por Nosotros, we envision a world governed by transparency in the textile value chain, using technological tools and creating value through good production practices. We focus on protecting ancestral knowledge and reevaluating production chains through recycling and efficient waste management. For over a decade, we've collaborated with over 80 organizations, promoting sustainability across global value chains by fostering dialogue among consumers, supply chain stakeholders, and producers. Grateful for this amazing opportunity to engage in such vital discussions and contribute to sustainable solutions. 🌱💼 #SDG12 #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #UNECE #HechoPorNosotros #SustainableFashion #UnitedNations #NGOAmbassador

Honoured to be part of a powerful dialogue on circularity and sustainability at the recently concluded KEPRO Kenya conference. At NCBA Group, we’re not just talking about change; we’re actively embedding circular practices to build a lasting legacy for the environment. Grateful for the inspiring voices at the table—Joseph Nyongesa’s call to live circularity daily, Mihaela Balan’s reminder that learning is a victory in itself, Thierry Sanders drive for smarter waste management, and Klaus Lehn Christensen vision of ‘Taka ni Mali’—waste as wealth. Food for thought- By 2030, the circular economy could generate $4.5 trillion in economic benefits worldwide. Driving sustainability as part of smart business strategy is a win-win! Kenya’s future is circular, and together, we’re making strides to secure it. Let’s keep pushing forward! #ChangeTheStory #GoForIt #CircularEconomy #KeproInAction #ThoughtLeadership Herbert Githu
Embracing circularity in our daily lives isn’t just a goal—it’s becoming a necessity. At our recent conference, we were inspired by industry leaders who shared their dedication to a sustainable, circular future. Fawzan Chaudhri, Head of Manufacturing and Real Estate at NCBA Group, discussed NCBA Group’s unwavering commitment to circular practices, building a legacy that protects the environment now and for future generations. Joseph Nyongesa, CEO of the Institute of Packaging Professionals Kenya (IOPPK), urged us to live circularity as a way of life, pushing beyond concept to real action. Mihaela Balan, Regional Team Leader at EU Africa RISE (Reform for Investment and Sustainable Economies), reminded us that everyone won simply by attending and learning more about the circular economy. Thierry Sanders, founder of the KOLEKT App, celebrated the audience’s curiosity about sustainable waste management, confident that such enthusiasm points us in the right direction. And Klaus Lehn Christensen, Regional Director of Danish Industry highlighted innovative "waste-to-art" projects as proof of the value in waste, affirming that 'Taka ni Mali'—waste truly is wealth. These insights reflect Kenya’s growing commitment to circularity, igniting new possibilities for a more sustainable future. #KEPROinAction #CircularEconomy #SustainableWasteManagement
