For those who didn’t have an opportunity to share their most recent work with us before the summer holidays, we have OPENED the Late Breaking Abstract Submissions! *Submit your abstract by 23:59h on Thursday 19th of September 2024* Abstract requirements & process: - We encourage submissions that consider equality, diversity and inclusion, and from early career researchers (<3 years' experience in a substantive post, e.g. STP trainees or recently registered Clinical Scientists; registrars or recently qualified Consultants or Genetic Counsellors). *All early career researchers who have applied during the abstract submission as a first and presenting author will be considered for an award*. - To ensure we can include as many high-quality presentations as possible, we welcome abstracts for: o Standard presentation (10 minutes) o Lightning presentation (5 minutes) - Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate paper poster presentations - The word count limit is 200 words - Please do not include any sensitive or patient information - Abstracts that have been submitted in our previous BSGM Conference 2024 calls are not eligible for this round of submissions. - Please use the Late Breaking Abstract Submission Form The conference registration is still open – registration deadline is 18th October 2024. 🆕 New manuscript in Springer Nature! 🆕 Investigating item response theory model performance in the context of evaluating clinical outcome assessments in clinical trials. This manuscript is based on a simulation study designed and executed by Cole Ayasse, Ph.D. to assess the appropriateness of two common item response theory models for use with clinical trial data. It should help psychometricians and statisticians know they’re choosing the right model when using IRT to evaluate clinical trial data and for them to better understand the implications of sample size and test length on the model assumptions. IRT models are an increasingly popular method choice for evaluating clinical outcome assessments for use in clinical trials. Given common constraints in clinical trial design, such as limits on sample size and assessment lengths, the current study aimed to examine the appropriateness of commonly used polytomous IRT models, specifically the graded response model and partial credit model, in the context of how they are frequently used for psychometric evaluation of COAs in clinical trials. This study uses head-mounted video recordings to analyze a child's naturalistic experiences and train LLM in a longitudinal manner, which is different from traditional large dataset training methods. We are developing an A.I. system to generate clinical trial protocols. Similarly, we intend to use instant audio recordings from the principal investigator (PI), the clinical research coordinator (CRC), and the clinical research associate (CRA) to train the A.I. to learn to optimize clinical trial protocols. This process can effectively address the problem of outdated information from sources like clinicaltrials.gov, and Pubmed, etc.
