Discontinuation of business of HELIOVIS AG HELIOVIS AG, an Austrian solar tech company, announces the discontinuation of all business activities. The company has developed a highly innovative, pneumatic solar concentrator (HELIOtube®) for the provision of emission-free process heat for the decarbonization of industry throughout the global sunbelt. Despite support from the EU and national funding bodies, consistently loyal investors, a large number of partners as well as reference projects in Spain and the Middle East, it was not possible to ensure the company’s further development. The main reasons include the consistent low level of industrial prices for fossil fuels in the target regions, the subsidized and therefore unrivalled production costs of photovoltaics from Asia, and the fact that effective CO² pricing exists only in Europe and only for a limited number of industries. HELIOVIS wishes to express its gratitude to all shareholders, sponsors, employees and its global partners for their joint efforts in developing this solar-thermal solution. The energy transition remains a global challenge and must be driven forward – now, unfortunately, without HELIOVIS. Wiener Neudorf, November 8, 2024 HELIOVIS AG

The research and development surrounding the capabilities of perovskite as a reliable and affordable renewable energy source are truly fascinating. Potentially the next big advancement in solar technology, US based startup PeroNova have recently achieved record efficiency of over 28% in a lab based environment for a perovskite solar cell. To put that into perspective, the best possible efficiency for a photovoltaic solar cell sits at around 20% efficiency. This isn’t even the anticipated peak for perovskite solar cells, as perovskite’s theoretical upper limit for efficiency is roughly 66%! I expect this is only the start of the journey and that we’re about to become a lot more familiar with the capabilities and benefits of perovskite. With a range of applications already in the pipeline from space tech to large-scale building projects, I think the innovation around perovskite is just getting started! https://lnkd.in/e7FHz_Wn #perovskite #BIPV #solarenergy #PV #renewableenergy #spacetech

As the world becomes more adaptive to renewable energy, innovation in this field is becoming quite impressive. Let's discuss four latest innovative renewable energy technologies: Making water from the air: Yes, you read it right! Finding alternative water sources is vital, especially as water scarcity will be a significant issue for two-thirds of the population by 2025. A US startup has created off-grid "hydropanels" that can turn air into water. Fans inside the panels pull water vapor out of the air, which is then turned into liquid water that can be mineralized and used as drinking water. Solar power windows: California-based Ubiquitous Technology has developed renewable energy windows that function as solar panels. The glass is treated to allow visible light to pass through while absorbing and converting invisible ultraviolet and infrared light into electricity. Turbines that never turn: A US startup has invented a system that uses three-meter-tall wind generators with no external moving parts. The system's aerodynamic fins guide fast-rising air past an internal turbine, producing 50% more power than other sustainable options. Solar and wind power together: While solar power and wind power are often considered separately, French startup Unéole has developed a small-scale, easy-to-install solution that combines both. The platform uses multiple wind turbines under a photovoltaic roof to create a silent and efficient energy solution. That's all for today.
