Today is International Day of the Girl, with 2024's theme Girls' vision for the future. Globally, girls are starting their life on an unequal footing - in education, in health, in bodily automony, and in their own agency. We are doing some incredibly impactful work across Africa, The Hunger Project India, Bangladesh and Mexico to change the future for girls.

🌍 Happy International Day of the Girl Child! 🌍 Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and potential of girls around the world. 🎉 Why do we observe this day? International Day of the Girl Child, established by the United Nations in 2012, shines a spotlight on the unique challenges girls face globally. Every girl deserves the chance to speak up, be heard, and create change. It's up to all of us to create an environment where their dreams can flourish. 💡 What actions can we take to empower the next generation? Tania and Razia, two best friends with different likings. One likes sweet; one likes spice. In their free time, one likes to stay home while the other races outside. But despite the differences, what makes their bond so strong? Their shared dream–the dream of a brighter future for themselves and their families. Thank you, Summit Power International, for being our supporter in nurturing these dreams. In a developing country like Bangladesh, the journey towards educational equality has historically been challenging, with girls often facing greater hurdles to access education. Poverty, societal norms, religious beliefs, early marriage–a lot of reasons play a role in this scenario. However, at JAAGO, the narrative is changing. With a commitment to empowering girls through education, JAAGO proudly boasts that 53.22% of its student body is female. As we continue our journey of breaking barriers and forging a new path for our students, we are grateful to have Summit Power International by our side. Together, we are empowering children through education, helping to level the playing field, and ensuring that every child, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. *Under the child safeguarding policy, the name or picture of the child may have been changed. #SummitPowerInternational #Compassion #Generosity #EducationForAll #Empowerment #JAAGOFoundation #JAAGO

1000 Days of Silence: Women’s voices have been stifled, their songs of knowledge and growth muted. 1000 Days Without Schools: Girls have been barred from classrooms, their dreams of education thwarted. 1000 Days of Darkness: The light of learning extinguished, hope for a brighter future dimmed. 1000 Days of Injustice: The right to self-development and personal growth stolen. 1000 Days of Unseen Pain: The mental and emotional toll on young women, deprived of opportunities. 1000 Days of Lost Potential: Talents and skills that could contribute to society left undeveloped. 1000 Days of Inequality: A glaring disparity, as education remains accessible to some, but not all. 1000 Days of Resilience: Despite the oppression, the spirit of resistance and the thirst for knowledge persists. 1000 Days of Global Outcry: The world watches and raises its voice against this injustice. 1000 Days of Hope: Belief in eventual justice, in the restoration of rights, and the return of educational freedom. #AIArtwork 🎨 #Afghanistan 🇦🇫 #DontForgetAfghanistan 🙏🏻 #StandWithWomenInAfghanistan ✊🏻

Why should Youth be #LeadingSDG4?" This is my why: On this Youth Day, we celebrate the boundless energy, creativity, and potential of young people across the world. As a population scientist, I am deeply committed to harnessing these qualities to create a brighter future, particularly in the realm of education through my research, advocacy, and grassroots efforts. My work involves collaborating with various NGOs in India, especially those focused on girls' education. I provide technical assistance to help these organizations design and implement programs tailored to the unique challenges faced by young girls in different communities. As education is a powerful tool for empowerment, and ensuring that girls have access to quality education is a critical step toward breaking cycles of poverty and inequality. My efforts are particularly focused on reducing dropout rates in higher education among girls, especially those from marginalized communities in India. By working at the local level, I strive to make a tangible impact on the lives of young girls, helping them realize their full potential and become the leaders of tomorrow. This Youth Day, let us all recommit to supporting and uplifting the youth, for they are the architects of a better future. Happy International #YouthDay from the SDG4 Youth & Student Network! What difference can you make today in facilitating sustainable development for African women? Most females in African communities are poor, lack basic education, and do not have access to basic health care services. The decision-making power of an African woman about herself or on issues within the family context is often dependent on her level of education and financial empowerment. Poor families tend to marry off their female children soon after their first menstrual cycle, fostering the belief that marriage will alleviate their suffering and that the husband will take care of all her needs. This fixed mindset, prevalent in some cultures, should be eradicated through continuous public enlightenment programs, especially in schools. Education empowers and transforms a woman intellectually and financially, enabling her to reach her full potential in business, academics, and the political sphere. It also places her in a strong position to make decisions about her health, career, children, and family at large. This includes having the courage to be bold, speak up, and stand up for the values she holds as a woman. Policies that prevent girls from dropping out of school or being married off in their teens should be sponsored. Sustainable development in developing nations can be fully achieved when government policies on educational programs align with skills acquisition and entrepreneurship education from junior secondary school through senior secondary school. This should also include digital skills acquisition and industrial attachment during long holidays. Share your thoughts on how we can foster sustainable development for young African girls #2024 #problemsolver #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma #healthcare #womenshealth #femaleempowerment

🌟 Empower a Girl, Empower your nation🌟 Education is more than a right—it's the most powerful tool we have to create a brighter future. Yet, millions of girls worldwide are still denied access to quality education due to poverty, discrimination, and systemic barriers. Here’s the truth: - When a girl is educated, her earning potential increases, reducing cycles of poverty. - She’s more likely to stand up for her rights and those of others. - Her education leads to healthier families, stronger communities, and thriving economies. Investing in girls’ education is not just a moral imperative; it’s a smart investment. The ripple effect is transformative. So, what can we do? 💡 Advocate for policies that ensure equal access to education. 💡 Support organizations working to break barriers for girls worldwide. 💡 Amplify the voices of young women and girls—because their dreams matter. Let’s build a world where every girl has the opportunity to learn, lead, and shine. The future depends on it. #EducationForAll #GirlsEducation #Empowerment #Leadership
