The young people are the pulse of every country across the globe, filled with new perspectives, and full of potential. However, when it comes to politics or keeping a political view, Pakistani youth has always seemed to be less interested compared to youth from other parts of the world. Amnesty International Democracy International Transparency International #democracy #transparency Could you please guide me about this to understand ? There has been a change in the government in Bangladesh. Now, the question arises whether the new government will come into power through #democratic way or not? Another significant issue pertains to the future of the quota system. Will the quota system be abolished, or will there be an increase in the allocation of seats for the elite class through quota or reference-based systems, which are legally recognized in our society? Furthermore, there are concerns about the direction in which Bangladesh is headed. Will the country continue to develop, or will it face a decline? It seems that there may be more challenges ahead for Bangladesh, rather than immediate relief. It's a time of waiting, and I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Tribal Elder Haji Banaras Khan underscored the significance of border, culture and ongoing dialogues between #Afghanistan and #Pakistan. Here is what he has to say: "I want to draw the attention to the significance of the #border, cultural, and social bonds between #Pakistan and #Afghanistan, which are serving as a linchpin in fostering our #bilateral ties. The ongoing dialogue is yielding fruitful outcomes and consolidating our relationship. Nevertheless, the neglect of women's #education is a pressing concern that necessitates our attention. We must recalibrate our educational policies to empower our #youth and unlock their potential for a brighter future." #BeyondBoundariesVI #PAKAfghan #Peace #Dialogue

#Bangladesh's win for its people showcases the remarkable power of collective action and the strength of citizens in driving change. The ongoing movements have sparked curiosity across #SouthAsia, with eyes now turning towards Pakistan. However, the wait for change in Pakistan reveals a lack of political maturity among its citizens, despite the appetite for political reform. Rights movements are gaining momentum in KP and Balochistan, while activists in Punjab focus on localized issues, neglecting engagement with grassroots movements. Selective activism hinders the transition to a comprehensive Rights Movement, crucial for societal development. In #Pakistan, division persists due to this selective activism, reminiscent of colonial rule in #SouthAsia. Rights groups in the Global North also sometimes fail to make this distinction between the personal political and the collective political - which is the ultimate driving force for movements across #GlobalSouth. Across #SouthAsia, where differences in language, caste, religion play out in the greater political chessboard, rights movements or those for economic rights largely die out for failure of being mainstreamed. Historical and cultural nuances in #SouthAsia must be explored to drive democratic processes and power change, ensuring the mainstreaming of rights movements and economic rights advocacy.

So easy to understand
If you are a true pro-Palestinian, you should condemn Islamic terror group Hamas. You should demonstrate against Hamas. You should want better education for children in Gaza, not indoctrination. You should clearly say that you do not stand by what happened to Israeli women on October 7. Last week we had a conversation in the European Parliament about women rights, about rape as a weapon of war and about antisemitism in Europe. This was my contribution. Do we want a Western society where synagogues and Jewish schools need to be protected, or do we want a community where it’s not necessary and everyone can be everyone else’s guest? Our responsibility is to help make this kind of protection unnecessary. We must have a society with mutual respect. We must have the courage to defend European values. As member of European Parliament, I will always be a voice for justice and equality. The only thing scarier than the threats an individual receives is the possibility that extremists could have more power than we do to create positive change in the world. Assita

I am filled with optimism that urged me to write as I witness the remarkable rise of youth in Bangladesh, courageously stepping up to shape their nation's future. In Pakistan also, young people are not just passive observers; they are passionately engaging for a brighter future. Likewise, the youth of Bangladesh are boldly raising their voices getting attention on a global stage, passionately articulating their dreams and aspirations for their country. We are at a pivotal moment where emerging nations are poised to influence global politics, standing tall and resisting entrenched power structures and toxic forces. The ongoing discourse surrounding the Palestine issue serves as a powerful example. This struggle has transcended borders, uniting people around the world who believe in humanity and fundamental rights. Citizens are bravely exposing their governments, confronting hypocritical foreign policies, and collectively demanding change. It’s a clear call for justice that resonates with all who value dignity and equity. In Pakistan, the youth are fervently advocating for essential civil liberties, including the right to free speech and fundamental human rights. Meanwhile, in Bangladesh, after decades of political upheaval, young people have united with a fierce determination to tackle specific issues—like the demand to end the quota system. Their focused resistance embodies the spirit of well-organized movement, demonstrating that when young people rally around tangible goals, they can create a profound impact on their society. Pakistan need a similar strategy of issue-based resistance. Quota system is a pressing challenge for us , which has deepened ethnic divisions and polarization among communities. The quota system has not only stifled the potential of countless individuals but has also led to a decline in the quality of education and governance in Sindh. What was once intended to rectify historical injustices has instead become a source of frustration and disillusionment. Witnessed in the last five years of governance in Sindh illustrated how deeply the quota system has eroded educational quality and bureaucratic integrity. As we reflect on these pressing issues, it becomes painfully clear that we are overdue for reform. There is an urgent need to champion meritocracy and accountability while fostering genuine representation and unity among the diverse communities of Pakistan. Our hope now solely lies in young population of Pakistan as they hold the power to shape the future of nation. #Pakistan #Bangladesh #QuotaSystem #Equity #EqualOpportunity

Mobilizing from the Margins: Meanings, Modes, and Effects of Women and Youth Social Mobilization in the Arab Region In 2011 and 2019, the Arab region witnessed unprecedented popular mobilizations that brought women and youth to the forefront of political activism. These movements not only challenged regimes but also reshaped the roles of historically marginalized groups. Our recent conference, co-organized with the Rabat Social Studies Institute (RSSI) convened activists, researchers, and civil society representatives from Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, and Iraq to reassess the dynamics of women and youth participation in social movements. Together we looked at: 🔹 The historical trajectories that shaped recent mobilizations 🔹 The intergenerational dynamics influencing feminist and youth politics today 🔹 The lasting impacts on political participation and new margins of maneuver for women and youth Examining the dynamics of these mobilisations provides a nuanced understanding of the evolving political landscape, revealing both the opportunities and the constraints that women and youth encounter in their quest for sustained political participation. 🎥 Video Summary produced by elgeek.ma 🌐 Learn more about our 'Youth As Political Actors' Program: https://lnkd.in/g3mjRE62 Sarah Anne Rennick Rola El-Husseini Saloua Zerhouni Mohammed V University in Rabat Lund University #WomenInPolitics #YouthActivism #PoliticalChange #SocialMovements #ArabSpring
