Today we are celebrating INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN IN MINING The International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM) celebrates women’s perseverance, contributions, talent and spirit on the 15 of June every year. It brings to light to the advancements achieved and the opportunities available for the industry to continue to become sustainable, diverse and inclusive. IDWIM has two primary objectives: - To celebrate the pioneers who paved the way and those we sadly lost, the women currently working in the mining sector and the future ones who will join the mining sector with a yearly global celebration. Everyone, everywhere, is invited. - To be a campaign that calls on industry and individuals to collectively and collaboratively work on actionable initiatives towards a more sustainable, diverse and inclusive mining industry. There are many ways for you, your company or organisation, and the industry at large to get involved. #mining #inernationaldayofwomeninmining #womeninmining #ten_recruitment #ten #tenjobs #10jobs

As we celebrate the International Day of Women in Mining 2024, let's take a moment to consider the significance of this year's theme, 'I am mining and I belong.' We are excited to spotlight IWiM’s Advisory Council member Allison George, who shared: “When I think of ‘I am mining and I belong’, curiosity, intention, and representation are the three words that spring to mind. For me it is about all of this (we are mining and we belong)—I remain curious and intentional in this space. Mining is an exciting field that takes us on a journey through time—the story prior to extraction, the story of the material that has been extracted, or indeed the stories between human beings in relation to politics, socio-economics, trade, environment, collaboration, and conflict. It is closely interwoven with human history since the dawn of time. This has been my journey through the industry, incorporating many facets and enjoying the opportunity to learn and serve.” What does the #IDWIM2024 theme mean to you? We'd love to hear from you! Let us know in the comments or share your thoughts, stories, and experiences with us at celebrate@internationalwim.org. #IDWIM #InternationalDayofWomeninMining #IAmMiningAndIBelong #IAmMining #SoyMinería #JeSuisLactivitéMinière #SouMineração #WomenInMining #MiningIndustry

CESMECC's Commitment to Elevating Women in Mining At Centre for Sustainable Mining, Environment and Climate Change (CESMECC), we believe in the power of diversity and the essential role women play in the mining sector. As we celebrate International Women in Mining Day, CESMECC realized that only a handful women were featured in various social media platforms yet there are many women in mining who are making remarkable contributions in the industry. We acknowledge that their stories are often underrepresented, and many women working in mining remain unseen and unheard. This has got us thinking deeply. CESMECC is committing to finding ways to elevate women in the mining field, ensuring their voices are heard, their achievements recognized, and their potential realized. CESMECC is committed to championing the interests of women in mining, and we have outlined a robust plan to bring their stories to light, encourage their participation in industry conversations, and inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in mining. CESMECC invites you to join us in this important mission. Follow our social media channels to stay updated on our initiatives, participate in our events, and help us spread the word. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable mining sector where women thrive and lead. Let's champion the interests of women in mining and pave the way for future generations. As we wrap up our recent competition, Gubhani Exploration reflects on the outcome. Our goal was to provide a platform for a woman-owned business to showcase at the Electra Mining Trade Show. Despite our efforts, we didn't receive any entries. This outcome prompted us to consider the potential reasons behind the lack of participation. Research indicates that women tend to hesitate to apply for opportunities unless they meet all the qualifications, while men often apply when they meet only 60%. The requirement for a 30-second pitch may have deterred participation, among other factors. Nevertheless, our commitment to empowering women in mining remains unwavering. Gubhani Exploration is proud to sponsor a company featured in the WiMBIZ directory booklet, highlighting women-owned/led businesses. Additionally, we are sponsoring the Women in Mining Business | WiMBIZ SA Networking Cocktail event at Electra Mining Africa 2024 on September 3, facilitating connections and opportunities for women. We value your insights on the reasons behind the lack of responses and encourage you to share your perspectives in the comments. Thank you for your ongoing support. Let's continue advancing together. #womeninmining #diversity&inclusion #empowerment #GubhaniExploration #Electramining2024 #WiMBIZ

Over the years women have battled for a place in the mining Industry. Currently, women form an essential part of the Industry labour force. Mostly in Artisanal & Small Scale mining, though still not there yet, but it’s a good start in the right direction. Through us Tanzania Women in Mining and Mineral Industry (TWiMMI) and specifically President Hon. Samia Suluhu, we are on a mission to show the world that “mining is for everyone” Despite the bias and prejudices. Women can take charge and make remarkable impacts in the Industry. Whether in leadership or technical areas. Here's the chance to support Women and youth in this sector. Do you think women and youth in mining get enough recognition for the work they've been doing? #MineralValueAdditionTraining #WomeninMineralValueAddition
