Our solar manager Lucy Boulton visited Preston College earlier in the month, to talk to construction students about sustainability and the impact of green energy within our industry. As well as inspiring students to consider a career in renewables, Lucy also showed how sustainability can be incorporated into their everyday lives too. #sustainability #renewables #greenenergy #solar #construction #students #prestoncollege #inspiring

Low Carbon has fully commissioned the 27 MW Ter Apel Solar Farm in the Netherlands. The Ter Apel solar project is located in Groningen and is set to generate clean power for more than 10,000 homes per annum, while further displacing 7,000 tonnes of CO2e. Low Carbon said the Ter Apel Solar Farm was its first utility-scale solar project to issue a Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) since the company’s transition to an Independent Power Producer (IPP). BELECTRIC GmbH provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the Low Carbon-owned solar farm. “We are delighted to formally hand over our first renewable energy project since becoming an IPP,” stated Steven Hughes, Managing Director of Portfolio Management at Low Carbon. “This is a landmark moment in Low Carbon’s journey and reinforces our capability to deliver renewable energy projects at scale. Our long-term partnership with BELECTRIC has been fundamental to the success of Ter Apel, and we look forward to working together on the delivery of further projects in the coming months as we look to play a key role in accelerating the energy transition.” Low Carbon and BELECTRIC are also working together to deliver a portfolio of large-scale Dutch solar projects that are ‘expected to enter operations later this year’. Dr. Dr. Thorsten Blanke, Managing Director at BELECTRIC, added: “The fact that Low Carbon selected us to construct these exciting projects speaks volumes about us and our project experience. We have been working successfully with our customer since the beginning of 2022 and look forward to expanding the partnership and helping Low Carbon deliver 20 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030.” #cleanenergy

Island Green Power has been awarded planning consent for the large-scale Cottam Solar Project in the UK from the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. The Cottam Solar Project is set to become the UK’s largest solar farm, with a total capacity of 600 MWac and will include a 600 MW battery energy storage system, designed to store surplus energy and release it when required. Claire Brodrick, Legal Director at Pinsent Masons who advised on the application, commented: "For Labour to meet its election commitment to decarbonise the UK’s energy grid by 2030, more renewable energy projects like this need to be supported. “Ramping up infrastructure approvals and making strides into developing the UK’s renewable energy infrastructure are vital to the country's energy transition agenda. This approval is a clear indication to the market that meeting the transition goal is a priority for the Government and that these projects are open to investment.” “This achievement highlights our commitment to powering the UK’s transition to green energy and contributing to the UK Government’s goal of achieving net zero and tripling solar by 2030,” Island Green Power said in a statement. “We’d like to take the opportunity to thank the team, our partners, specialist consultants, and those across the industry and in the local community who have helped to shape the final design proposal. Your time and support have been vital to the successful outcome of this project.” In terms of the next steps to deliver the project, Island Green Power said it will focused on delivering a number of different components identified during the planning phase, including biodiversity enhancements, a new walking route for local residents, and direct funding to support local community initiatives. #cleanenergy

What can you use our funding for? Renewable Energy Projects Renewable energy projects can be a great source of additional income and add real value to under-utilised land on your farm, or even turn waste products into revenue. We have over 20 years of experience in renewables and will consider any proven technology, even pre-planning permission. Our loans are typically used for construction finance, saving you from having to sell equity, and allowing you to access cheaper, long term debt options once the project is operational. Are you considering a renewable energy project on your farm?

"Renewable energy and some emerging energy technologies such as low-carbon hydrogen also require more up-front capital investment before they become operational and start generating returns, which further opens these sectors to impacts from interest rates, [...] And renewable energy developers may use more debt — rather than equity financing — to cover these up front costs" The answer, then, is right in the problem description (as it frequently is.) Instead of loading up on debt for up front costs, engage in broader equity financing, and lower the front-end impact, as well as the levelized cost of energy overall. #megaprojects #renewables #decarbonization Project Management Institute Oceantic Network OSW Supply Chain National Supplier Diversity Institute Alliance for Clean Energy New York American Clean Power Association (ACP) Soulful Synergy, LLC Aon Mott MacDonald AECOM Jacobs

For Civil Engineers who work with intricate terrain challenges and complex engineering calculations, specialized solutions now integrate advanced civil engineering equations directly with on-ground terrain data. This integration offers significant advantages by reducing time and effort typically spent on manual calculations and grid analysis. By enabling precise placement and alignment, these solutions optimize cut and fill operations, reduce material waste, and lower overall construction costs. The result is a faster turnaround time, enhanced accuracy, and improved efficiency in project execution, ultimately allowing civil engineers to focus more on design quality and project outcomes. #civilengineering #geoenablement #Geospatial #solarplacement

Competitive Power Ventures' (CPV) affiliate CPV Renewable Power announced the commencement of operations at CPV Stagecoach Solar, an 80-MWac solar power generation facility in Macon County, Georgia. The project, utilizing over 180,000 bi-facial solar panels and single-axis tracking, will help avoid nearly 80,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. 'Our vision for a reliable, low carbon electric supply includes a substantial amount of solar and wind which requires an accelerated build out of this technology,' said Gary Lambert, CEO of @cpv. 'Having the plan is only one part of the equation - actual execution takes a tremendous amount of collaboration and effort from everyone involved.' 'Bringing our second utility-scale solar project online in just a few months shows CPV's commitment to a lower carbon future,' said Sean Finnerty, President of Renewables for CPV. 'Of course, we would not be reaching this milestone if it were not for the support of both Andersonville and Macon County.' 'This was something our team worked on for a long time, bringing a solar project to this county,' said Gerald Beckham, Executive Director of The Development Authority of Macon County and Chamber of Commerce. 'Already we have reaped the economic benefits of the project, allowing us to inject funds into critical resources all while helping bring new clean energy to Georgia.' #renewableenergy #solarpower #sustainability #energytransition #cpv #georgia @cpv @maconcountyga @andersonville
