Hi All, This is a HeadsUp message for all International Exhibitors thinking of Exhibiting in South Africa at trade expo,s. There is a company here that advertises a lot on this platform offering full turnkey exhibition stand construction, who in the last few years after taking the clients money, has dropped the ball for their clients on so many occasions in the construction of their booths/stands by not finishing the prescribed work. They have, just this weekend, again done the same thing and not only has embarrassed their client but also again, embarrassed all those contractors in our Great Exhibition / Events Industry, who work dam hard at offering and delivering great work. Most of the Local and International Organizers and Main Venues that run expos / events here, have Banned this company from working on their premises and events, but some have not. The local exhibitors have cottoned on and don't touch this company, but it always seems to get some unlucky international exhibitor. All I am asking is that you do your due diligence on the company you want to appoint, before appointing just any contractor, or best of all is to get hold of EXSA ( Exhibition and Events Association of South Africa ) or AAXO Thank you to all that read this heads up. ps..... Update. I have just noticed that this company is now also being punted by the Owner and not just under the company name.

LONDON IS HOLLYWOOD Recently I started thinking about the events industry structure and concentration and this, in turn, led me to reflect on London. London is the world’s B2B events and business media entrepot, think Hollywood: All the biggest players like Informa, Reed Exhibitions Limited and Clarion Events are headquartered here. As well as the next level of players like Terrapinn, CloserStill Media and Hyve Group… And then a host of smaller entrepreneurial companies that create all sorts of conferences, exhibitions, one to one meetings, anything. And a whole ecosystem of service providers, including financial services, who really “get it” and provide capital, insight, technology and venues to fuel growth. And a pool of talented professionals who are committed to event excellence. A community of entrepreneurs and innovators who continue to push events into the future. This concentration in London and the Southeast of the UK is unrivalled anywhere in the world. The USA is a much bigger events market, but there is no city in the USA or the world that has this concentration of talent, capital and innovation. It is also worth pointing out that the biggest privately owned event organisers in the USA are actually British. One important product of “London is Hollywood” is the volume and range of event products traded on a burgeoning secondary market. Again, there is no greater global concentration of event M&A activity than in London. Certainly Terrapinn is participating in this market and actively seeks partnership with event entrepreneurs. And we are, obviously, not alone. So, London really is event Hollywood. Most of us in the industry realise this, but those in government do not. I strongly think that, if there was more recognition of this industry’s dynamism and contribution, then the future would be even more spectacular.
