DeepHealth has acquired Kheiron Medical (founded in 2016), adding its CE-marked mammography AI solution, Mia, to its portfolio. This acquisition is strategic, as it provides DeepHealth with a product already approved in Europe and the UK, expanding its international presence and breast imaging AI capabilities. Mia delivers "double-reading quality with a single human reader," complementing DeepHealth's FDA-cleared SmartMammo, which support breast cancer detection, breast density and case triaging. Congratulations to Northwell Health’s Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research on being recognized twice on TIME’s 2024 list of best inventions. Daniel King MD PhD, Sandeep Nadella, MD, and Tiffany Zavadsky, CRNP, invented iNav, an AI detection system that analyzes MRI and CT scans reports to identify pancreatic cancer risk factors in patients. Their invention facilitates earlier treatment of a cancer that has a five-year survival rate of just 13%. Professor Chad Bouton and his team invented the “double neural bypass,” which uses implanted microchips and AI algorithms to reconnect the brain, body and spinal cord. The invention restored movement and touch in a man paralyzed since experiencing a spinal cord injury in 2020. Under the leadership of CEO Michael Dowling, Northwell truly embodies a mindset focused on changing “how we live, work, play, and think about what’s possible,” which is the primary criteria of the TIME list. RetiSpec Inc., a Toronto, Canada-based innovator in AI-driven eye diagnostics for brain health, closed a $10M USD Series A financing. The round was led by iGan Partners and included new strategic investors, Eli Lilly and Company and Topcon Healthcare, Inc., along with existing investors, Gentex Corporation, the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation’s Diagnostics Accelerator, Verge HealthTech Fund, University of Minnesota’s Discovery Capital, Ontario Brain Institute, Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation, and private investors. This financing brought RetiSpec’s total fundraising to $17M USD. Led by Eliav Shaked, Co-founder and CEO, RetiSpec is a medical AI company that aims to enable widespread early and accurate detection of neurodegenerative disease markers through an eye exam. Its AI solutions applied to non-invasive retinal images, provide real-time results at the point of care. RetiSpec’s first clinically validated AI is intended to predict amyloid burden to aid in the evaluation of individuals for Alzheimer’s disease. RetiSpec’s AI solutions are currently available for Research Use Only.

🧠🤖 INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, a Spanish brain-computer interface therapeutics (BCI-Tx) startup developing graphene-based neural technologies, has raised $50 million in Series B funding. The funding will enable INBRAIN to accelerate the development of its graphene-based BCI-Tx platform, which offers a bidirectional solution to decode and modulate neural activity with unprecedented resolution. 📈 The round was led by imec.xpand with new investors EIC Fund, Fond ICO Next Tech, CDTI-Innvierte, and AVANÇSA.
