#Pharmaceutical Forecasting 003 A process-focused approach to forecasting emphasizes the importance of getting the whole organization to agree on and understand the forecast. This means the forecast needs to be easily shared and clear to everyone in the organization, including departments like manufacturing, marketing, and management. For this to happen, the forecast might need to be simplified so that the numbers and calculations are transparent and easy to understand. However, this simplification could mean sacrificing some technical detail. In organizations that overly focus on this process, the forecast might be widely accepted, but it could be based on weak or flawed analysis.

From Ohio to North Carolina, Big Pharma is doubling down on domestic production. Pharmaceutical giants are reshaping the industry with billion-dollar investments in U.S.-based manufacturing facilities. These moves are more than just economic milestones—they're a response to global disruptions, a commitment to quality control, and a step toward more resilient supply chains. With local facilities, companies gain end-to-end oversight, reduced reliance on foreign production, and streamlined compliance with FDA standards. These changes promise fewer delays, stronger supply chain security, and better outcomes for patients. How to Prevent Drug Shortages with Supply Chain Management 1) Enhance Supply Chain Transparency: Implement systems that offer real-time data on inventory, production, and potential disruptions. 2) Diversify Manufacturing Sources: Use multiple suppliers and manufacturing sites to reduce risks from disruptions. 3) Maintain Strategic Stockpiles: Keep reserves of critical medications to handle unexpected demand spikes. 4) Invest in Advanced Manufacturing: Adopt scalable technologies like continuous manufacturing to quickly adapt. 5) Strengthen Regulatory Collaboration: Work with regulators to streamline approval for alternative suppliers. #DrugShortages #SupplyChainManagement #Pharmaceuticals #HealthcareResilience #betterhealth #inAble

Here at the Edges of Lean, I love to talk with people who have taken #lean thinking into spaces far from the shop floor. Tirrell Payton is a lean thinker bringing lean to #pharmaceutical #marketing – a highly regulated, people-focused business area and one of the places where people are very likely to say, “You can’t do lean here!”. He joined me at the Edges of Lean to discuss why and how he does it. https://lnkd.in/eM8cbCPc

The The White House and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today announced the negotiated "maximum fair price" for the ten drugs selected for price negotiation in the first year of the #InflationReductionAct, which represent price reductions of 38-79% off list prices (before rebates). It is interesting that the CEOs of the companies that were engaged in these negotiations told shareholders in their second quarter earnings report that these reductions would have "limited" impact and could be effectively managed and reaffirmed optimistic projections for future growth. Is this an indicator for the degree of excess in drug prices? See our research on how the industry can effectively manage the drug price reductions under the IRA without reducing either their profits or innovation. https://lnkd.in/e8jJpgub Is this an indicator of how excessive drug prices have become?
