Looking to attract the right staff members to your practice? The key to attracting top talent is to cultivate a healthy office environment. Here are tips for fostering a positive culture at your medical practice! "Employee appreciation may sound trite, but health care is a stressful profession. Experts agree that sometimes just saying thank you goes a long way, and not just with words. Grierson stocks a treat drawer with sweet and healthy snacks up to spicy ramen for days when lunch may not happen." #Physicians #Doctors #Pediatricians #PediatricPractice #PhysicianPractice #MedicalPractice

The U.S. is just beginning to experience the full impact of its aging population. Regrettably, its health care system and workforce are inadequately prepared to handle the oncoming surge in multimorbidity, dementia, functional impairment, and frailty. The leaders of health care organizations and medical schools have either failed to recognize this or, worse, have opted to overlook it. Fewer and fewer medical students and residents are choosing to become geriatricians. In 2023, only 174 of 419 geriatrics fellowship training positions were filled through the national fellowship specialty match, the lowest percentage of all medical specialties. Reduced interest in geriatrics is also seen in other health professions, including among nurse practitioners. There are nearly 400,000 licensed nurse practitioners in the U.S., who play increasingly important roles in every health care setting. Yet the opportunity to become a geriatric nurse practitioner ended about 10 years ago, as very few pursued this specialized career path. #healthcare #aging

Today, I sit on the other side of the table as a loved one waits to undergo a major surgery. It's always humbling as a physician to experience the patient side of . . . . . . the U.S. healthcare system. Here are my observations so far. ❤️ There are wonderful PEOPLE in healthcare. 😁 A smile can be some of the best medicine. 😇 Nurses are the angels who quietly get the work done, while providing a warm blanket when it's needed most. 🏥 A hospital bed can make the most stoic man look mortal. 👨⚕️ Our best diagnostic tools as physicians are still our ears. 🙏 I have gratitude that . . . ✅ I live in a city with wonderful healthcare access and quality because not everyone does . . . ✅I'm a physician who can text his med school classmate, who just happens to be one of the top heart surgeons in the country, to ensure timely care . . . ✅I can guide my loved ones through a scary process. I realize that I am privileged in those aspects. And I am thankful. Lastly, if I may be vulnerable, I found it surprising how emotional this process has hit me. I'm not scared. I know my loved one is in the best hands possible. Maybe this is me sensing my own mortality. Maybe it's an outpouring of emotion after decades on the other side of healthcare as the caregiver. Maybe I'm moved by all the beauty I've witnessed in humanity and what is possible when the healthcare process goes right. I don't have an answer. And maybe that's ok. #physicians #nurses #ascension #patientsfirst #healthcare #patientaccess #northwestern #feinbergschoolofmedicine

Nurses from the California Nurses Association protested outside Kaiser San Francisco against the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, citing concerns about untested and unregulated technology. They argue that AI cannot replace the human touch and empathy crucial in patient care. Kaiser defends its use of AI, stating it enhances patient outcomes and nurse satisfaction without replacing human decision-making. The company emphasizes that AI tools are meant to support, not replace, physicians and care teams, ensuring inclusiveness, health equity, and unbiased results. Despite Kaiser's assertions, nurses remain skeptical, emphasizing the importance of human interaction in healthcare. #aiinhealthcare #nurses What are your thoughts? Is it too soon? Or can AI be used in collaboration with medical providers to enhance care? With the Specialist combines artificial intelligence with a board certified neurologist to enhance neurological care in the primary care setting or potentially the hospital. In collaboration with healthcare providers, I think AI has the potential to revolutionize medicine. #withthespecialist #neurology #innovation https://lnkd.in/gu7wr2yg https://lnkd.in/gExrwg2P

According to this article, the California Nurses Association protested Kaiser Permanente's use of AI in patient care, citing concerns about job displacement, patient safety risks, and the erosion of nursing practice. Nurses demand involvement in AI deployment decisions to ensure patient care isn't compromised. Meanwhile, a report by Florida Atlantic University and Cross Country Healthcare reveals nurses' reservations about AI, including concerns about empathy, job replacement, data security, and regulation. To address these concerns and encourage nurse adoption, transparency, training, and feedback are essential. Engaging nurses in AI implementation can tailor solutions to their needs and enhance the nursing experience. FAU is pioneering AI education for nurses, recognizing the importance of integrating technology while preserving the human touch in patient care. Ultimately, nurses will find a balance between technology, innovation, patient trust, and human connection in the evolving healthcare landscape. #aiinhealthcare #nurses With the Specialist combines artificial intelligence with a board certified neurologist to enhance neurological care in the primary care setting, bringing the neurology consult to you. #withthespecialist #neurology #innovation https://lnkd.in/g3njSzNu https://lnkd.in/gExrwg2P
