The Battle for the Black Sea Is Not Over Hudson Institute 16 Apr 2024 As Russia scores localized gains on land, Ukrainian forces have achieved major successes in the Black Sea Region (BSR). The Ukrainians have sunk or damaged some one-third of the Black Sea Fleet, forced Moscow to move naval assets away from occupied Crimea, and put Russia on the defensive. These successes challenge the narrative that Russia’s war against Ukraine is a stalemate and demonstrate Ukraine’s determination to preserve its identity, sovereignty, and independence. Ukraine’s gains are real and strategically significant, but the Battle for the Black Sea is not over. Major Russian land, sea, and air assets remain in Crimea and in the BSR, and Moscow is using them to continue its quest to subordinate Ukraine. The war will be won or lost on land and in the air. If Russia wins or ends the war on its terms, the interests of all Black Sea littoral states will be negatively affected. But so too will those of the United States, Europe, and the West more broadly. The US has a major interest in a free and open Black Sea and a peaceful, stable, and prosperous BSR. Join Hudson for an event to present the results of an in-depth study written by a US–Romanian–Ukrainian team: Hudson Senior Fellow Matt Boyse, New Strategy Center CEO George Scutaru, New Strategy Center Senior Fellow Dr. Antonia Colibasanu, and New Geopolitics Research Network Director Mykhailo Samus.

The Geneva Convention is a cornerstone of international humanitarian law, vital for protecting human dignity during armed conflicts. Established in 1864, the convention ensures humane treatment for civilians, prisoners of war, and the wounded, setting essential standards for conduct in warfare. Upholding the Geneva Convention is crucial for safeguarding those not (or no longer) involved in hostilities and maintaining accountability and justice. Violations not only undermine legal order but also erode shared human values. Respecting these conventions fosters international cooperation, reinforcing common principles that bind the global community. Advocating for the Geneva Conventions involves educating others and holding violators accountable. These efforts are essential to ensure the conventions' protections remain effective, promoting a more just and humane world. Upholding these principles affirms our commitment to humanity, justice, and peace.
This year we mark the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, international treaties that set limits for armed conflicts. Parties to armed conflicts are the only ones with enough power to enforce the rules of war, transform them into reality, and save lives 👇🏽

USA will never change. US interests means the interests of the jesuit-zionist oligarchy, the judeo-masonic cult. This is from the book; The End of Grand Strategy: US Maritime Operations in Twenty-First Century. "...what ultimately makes the difference between war and peace, tragedy and triumph, is not good intentions, or strong words, or a grand coalition. It is the capability, credibility, and global reach of American hard power." https://lnkd.in/dW6b99ky

https://lnkd.in/e6GVE8Nq Great quick review of the latest sinking of a Russian merchant vessel in the Med. One of five recently. Poor maintenance, ships used out design parameters, war in Ukraine. Lots of potential reasons. Great in depth review for those watching Russian issues.

HISTORY of the BRUTAL EUROPEAN COLONIALISM. It has brought nothing but desasters, racism, abuse of power, exploitation, robbery, repression, military occupations, massacres, slavery, starvation, torture, abuse, humiliation, suffering and hundreds of millions of deaths. In which stage are we at this moment? Are we seeing the final battle in Middle East? Or are these endless wars and aggressions going to be also the future's normal? What will be the aftermath? Wouldn't it bring much more benefits for all to build PEACE? https://lnkd.in/gN5kAk5B
