💥 The best way to return from holidays and start the new academic year! 📃 Our latest article, “How do partner selection strategies affect the amount of funding in collaborative research projects? Evidence using the dual-projection approach”, has just been published in Technological Forecasting and Social Change. 🔍 In this paper, we test four hypotheses derived from the alliance and collaboration literature by applying a novel approach from Social Network Analysis to the collaborative network of projects funded by Horizon 2020. 💡 Our results shed light on a controversial aspect of collaboration literature, regarding the predominant role of social capital compared to increasing the level of trust when forming new consortia to secure higher funding. 👉🏼 You can explore this and many other insights from our analysis by accessing our article (Open Access) and downloading it for free: https://lnkd.in/dK5vP_Ca Huge thanks and kudos to my amazing co-authors Roy Cerqueti rosanna grassi #partnerselection #collaboration #socialnetworkanalysis #horizon2020 #research

🌟 Recently, I have discovered a great channel to communicate research and engage with policymakers in a conversation. So, I am excited to share with you my first blog post on the topic "Ready to Make a Difference? A Research Journey to Regional Policy Impact", just posted on the #Knowledge4Policy platform 🌍🔍 In today's fast-paced world, science can support policy decisions to shape the future of our communities and environment. The Knowledge for Policy platform, set up by the European Commission's #JointResearchCenter offers a unique digital space for researchers to share their scientific evidence with policy. This is a great potential to make your research seen, actionable, and impactful, and I appreciate getting to know about this opportunity through a great colleague, Kristian Krieger. In my blog post, I contribute to the ongoing discussions on how #PhD students and #early-#career #researchers can create impact from research to solve grand societal challenges and how science can inform policymaking. Also, as a researcher with a mindset of a change-maker, I want to thank the team of #Horizon2020 OpenInnoTrain research project and the community of ISPIM - International Society for Professional Innovation Management, who gave me a true inspiration in developing skills and knowledge about research impact. 🔗 The link to my blog post is here: https://lnkd.in/djZVZ4WT #impact #research #innovation #grandchallenges EU Science, Research and Innovation

[The Frontiers Planet Prize: Celebrates Breakthroughs in Sustainability Science] Launched in 2022 by the Frontiers Research Foundation, the Frontiers Planet Prize recognizes and awards exceptional scientists conducting transformational research to protect our earth system. Through a rigorous evaluation and voting process, an independent Jury of 100 may select a National Champion for each participating country, and from this cohort of National Champions, and after a second round of voting, 3 International Champions will each be awarded 1 million CHF. The prize focuses on addressing any one of the 9 planetary boundaries, as detailed by Professor Johan Rockström, director at the Potsdam Institute of Climate Change, and Owen Gaffney in their book and documentary, Breaking Boundaries. The Prize seeks to boost sustainability research globally by fostering national and international competition – much like the Olympics, but among scientists, universities, and countries. The aim is to identify, fund and support research that provides real solutions to the global environmental threats we face. The prize will recognize the best research published in established scientific journals within the past two years (date of acceptance, 1st November 2022 – 31st October 2024), with robust peer review and transparent publication procedures, that fulfil the criteria of the prize. The CHF 1 million prize will be awarded to each International Champion to advance the breakthrough research of the winning research group. The International Champions will be announced during the award ceremony taking place in Spring 2025, in Switzerland.
