The tourism sector in #ASEAN is booming. #APAC destinations are trending, and half of the top 10 spots are in the APAC region. According to our #Mastercard Economics Institute, #Thailand's tourism is expected to fully recover this year, with total visitor arrivals now only 7% below 2019 pre-pandemic levels. Interestingly, inbound flight traffic from South Asia and the ASEAN region to Thailand is nearly 20% above 2019 levels. Japan, China, Singapore and Korea are ranked as the top destinations in Asia in terms of sustainable and resilient development in the Travel and Tourism sector, according to the World Economic Forum. Thailand, often called one of the great destinations of Asia, has dropped from 41st to 47th in ranking since 2019, while Indonesia climbed from 36th to 22nd. According to the Bangkok Post, Thailand "had the lowest score in tourist services and infrastructure at 2.18 of 7, while the overall index of infrastructure and services also secured a low average score of 3.61". https://lnkd.in/gNYh_w_R
