What do the new reliability regulations mean for EV charging? ⚡ The government’s Public Charge Point Regulations have officially landed, introducing sweeping changes for charge point operators (CPOs) – from providing clearer pricing in pence per kWh to meeting a bold new standard of 99% uptime across all charge points. These regulations will require the entire EV charging supply chain to evolve. But with the right collaboration and support, they promise a more robust and user-friendly network that benefits everyone – including workplace fleets as well as individual road users. Interesting announcement from Shell Recharge Solutions that they will be moving away from providing workplace and domestic charging solutions *Edit: Ignore my speculations below around fleet charging solutions - this is clarified in the comments by Euan Moir! All related staff and existing operations will be transferred to the Dutch company 50five in six European markets (UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) It's not clear whether, within the context of 'workplace charging', this includes depot / commercial vehicle charging solutions but given the statement "Shell now wants to move away from the installation and operation of charging points on private property " this would imply that they are moving away from providing any fleet solutions? I can understand that they would perhaps want to move out of domestic charging in the same way that bp pulse did in 2023 but to pull out of fleet charging is interesting. This is arguably going to be a big growth area over the next 10 - 15 years and there aren't that many suppliers who can do it effectively. Presumably they will be concentrating on providing public charging solutions, which to be fair could still include dedicated fleet (LCV / HGV) charging hubs #ev #evs #electriccars #electricvehicles #electrictrucks #charging #charginginfrastructure

The future of transportation is electric, and the benefits for commercial fleets are growing more tangible. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), fleet and company cars accounted for 77% of new vehicle registrations last year, and a study by Drax Electric Vehicles ⚡ also found that 48% of businesses have already installed EV charging infrastructure. A further 33% plan to do so within the next 12 months. Here are a few reasons why your fleet should be switching to electric vehicles (EVs) today: 1. Cost Savings: Reduce fuel and maintenance costs significantly. EVs have far fewer moving parts, leading to lower upkeep expenses and longer vehicle lifespans. 2. Environmental Impact: Cut your fleet’s carbon footprint. Transitioning to EVs helps meet sustainability goals and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. 3. Government Incentives: Take advantage of available grants and tax incentives for EV adoption. Lower your initial investment and operational costs. (See: https://lnkd.in/eN--gZfh) 4. Enhanced Performance: Enjoy superior efficiency and reliability. EVs offer instant torque, smoother acceleration, and quieter operation. 5. Future-Proofing: Stay ahead of regulatory changes and market demands. Cities are increasingly implementing low-emission zones, and customers are prioritising eco-friendly businesses. EVC Solutions Ltd can help you switch your fleet to EV with a fully managed charging system and installation. Often overlooked in the clean energy transition is the driver experience and how it has the potential to improve employee attraction, employee satisfaction, and employee retention. One prime example is USPS, who have committed to purchasing 100% BEV after 2026 and are starting their BEV transition now. In a pilot program launched in the Atlanta market, USPS is already getting rave reviews from their drivers: https://lnkd.in/erJCMSv4

Jeff Eisenberg interviewed by the International Rental News - IRN on customer concentration. Is it better to have small customers or large, what are the risks? “Working for big customers has a lot of advantages: A big contractor may have dozens or hundreds of sites, so there is a lot of work. These are often blue-chip companies. You’re taking credit risk on somebody that’s much less risky than yourself and there are economies of scale. “On the other hand, to go after small customers can also have advantages because you they can pay higher prices. But winning and keeping many customers has its costs too. Thanks to Lucy Barnard and IRN / KHL https://lnkd.in/dfRJY4Sj #equipmentrental #creditrisk #generators #planthire
