It is essential to maintain a humble attitude, especially in environments such as an internship. Showing initiative from humility allows us to approach those with more experience, which is always beneficial in any work context. In a work environment, which tends to be conservative out of necessity, understanding the reason behind this conservatism is the first step. In the specific case of the naval world, the need to build means that will withstand one of the most hostile elements of our planet, the sea, justifies the conservative attitude where well-founded and tested changes are valued. Therefore, it is crucial to empathize with the environment, be receptive to opinions, show an entrepreneurial spirit, and a genuine thirst for learning and contribution. In this way, you are likely to find someone willing to guide you. And when that happens, it is important to be noble, respectful, and understanding, especially when thoughts driven by pride arise, such as the belief that a superior is wrong. As we all take a moment to celebrate our achievements from the first quarter, I’m filled with a mix of fulfillment and anticipation. It’s heartwarming to see so many of us sharing our accomplishments, and I’m right there with you. From successfully defending my project to winning a software exhibition, starting an internship role with UNEE, co-organizing the BUCC career fair and contributing to the launch of the study stats application with GDSC Babcock, it’s been a quarter filled with milestones. Yet, amidst the celebrations, there’s a recurring thought in my mind—realizing that this is the second to the last month of my academic journey. With just about two weeks left at the university after this month, the question of ‘What’s next?’ is becoming more prominent. It’s a time of significant transitions, filled with decisions to be made and paths to be chosen. But let’s not dwell on the uncertainty of the future for too long. For now, I want to take this opportunity to celebrate the achievements we’ve all made. Let’s cherish these moments of success and use them as stepping stones for the challenges that lie ahead. Here’s to embracing the future with the same determination and resilience that brought us here.

CIfA’s Assessment Centre Manager, Amanda Wood, heaps praise on heritage sector apprentices on Apprentice Wednesday during National Apprenticeships Week. “At CIfA Qualifications, we’ve been providing end-point assessment for apprentices for nearly three years now, so we see them just as they’ve finished training. Our assessors are consistently telling us how outstanding the apprentices are, both in terms of well-developed technical skills and their extremely positive attitude in the workplace. Their enthusiasm shows in spades! By the nature of the job, our assessors get really close to the work that the apprentices do, and it’s clear that they’re very impressed with how dedicated they are. They also see how the apprentices are making a great contribution to their workplace and teams. While our pass rates speak for themselves, the informal feedback from our assessors is that this route into the heritage sector is proving to be a win-win!" DG #DEFIS has announced two new initiatives aimed at improving the #skills situation in the #space sector: - a #JobPlacement scheme to help university students and young graduates find internships and employment opportunities to gain hands-on experience in local space companies - #CASSINI Space #SummerCamp, targeting younger students (age group 14-18), to inspire them to pursue a career in the space sector. These initiatives aim at addressing the shortage of expertise in the sector, and promoting its sustainable growth, in line with President Von der Leyen’s commitment on a European Year of Skills. The recent European Union #SpaceStrategy for #Security and #Defence (EU #SSSD) also highlighted the need for up-skilling and re-skilling activities to meet industry demand, fill the future skills gap, and increase female participation in the sector. https://lnkd.in/dfhW8NE2
