In a South Australian first, the City of Salisbury is piloting a new community support model by introducing a social worker in our library service.
With cost-of-living pressures impacting many and libraries increasingly called on to support diverse needs, we’ve partnered with Sonder, a leading provider of integrated health and community services across South Australia, to provide an on-site social worker at our Salisbury Community Hub to assist both the community and our staff.
The role goes beyond traditional social work; and is embedded within the existing library team, serving as a point of contact for customers, who may not know about or engage with local community services, as well as provide peer support to build the resilience and capacity of staff.
The City of Salisbury is proud to lead this unique approach to its service delivery so that less of our community fall through the cracks.
The project has been funded by City of Salisbury, with support from the Libraries Board of South Australia, Public Library Services, Leanne Mitchel CF.
