Rafah is home to some of the last remaining hospitals, markets, and functioning water systems in Gaza – all of which are essential for the health and well-being of children. A major attack on Rafah would significantly increase the already grim toll of deaths and injuries in Gaza. The parties to the conflict must urgently implement a permanent humanitarian ceasefire that will allow the rollout of a much-needed large-scale humanitarian operation. More aid trucks must be allowed in, restrictions on the movement of humanitarian workers must be lifted and safety for aid workers must be guaranteed. The further destruction of Gaza and the killing of civilians will not bring peace or security to the region. That can only be achieved through a negotiated political solution, one that prioritizes the rights and well-being of this and future generations of Israeli and Palestinian children. It's has been six months since the dramatic escalation of hostilities in Israel and Palestine resulting in unbearable pain and suffering. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC has supported both Magen David Adom, in Israel, and the Palestine Red Crescent Society through months of catastrophic and ever-escalating violence and hunger. Today, we call for: - Unhindered access for aid into, and to all parts of, the Gaza Strip – including the north. We welcome recent news that the Erez Gate/Beit Hanoun crossing will be reopened. This reopening needs to be permanent and lead to a massive increase in aid deliveries. - The protection of civilians, humanitarian workers, healthcare workers and their facilities. - The unconditional release of all hostages. 1.7 million people have been forced into a corner in Rafah. And despite promises of safety, the bombs have continued dropping. After almost eight months of violent conflict, people are wounded, hungry and have no place to go. There is no safe place left in Gaza. This must end now. We call for the next UK government to urgently: 🔴 call for an immediate ceasefire 🔴 increase the daily flow of humanitarian aid coming to Gaza – including water, fuel, food and medicine – to restart vital infrastructure such as hospitals and water and sanitation services 🔴 prioritise the protection of all civilians from military action, including the release of hostages 🔴 ensure International Humanitarian Law is upheld 🔴 increase humanitarian funding to urgently meet people’s basic needs 🔴 prevent the use of violence against civilians by Israeli settlers in Area C of the West Bank and end restrictions on the movement of Palestinian communities in the West Bank. Today marks 244 days since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza. The situation continues to deteriorate, with recent news highlighting the escalating humanitarian crisis. Reports indicate that the blockade has severely restricted access to essential supplies, leaving millions without adequate food, water, and medical care. The latest updates reveal that international aid organizations are struggling to deliver assistance due to ongoing hostilities and bureaucratic obstacles. The UN has once again called for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and to protect civilians from further harm. As we reach this somber milestone, it is crucial for us to raise our voices and take action. The prolonged conflict has led to unimaginable hardships for the people of Gaza, who face daily shortages of basic necessities and live in constant fear. By raising awareness, sharing accurate information, and supporting humanitarian efforts, we can contribute to a global movement advocating for peace and justice. Let us stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza. Let’s amplify their voices, share their stories, and work towards a future where peace, dignity, and human rights are upheld for all. 🔴 Join hands to save my family in Gaza. “Most of the children in Rafah have already been displaced multiple times by the fighting in Gaza, in direct contravention of international law. We know that as the war enters its 20th week many are injured, sick and malnourished and will struggle to find the wherewithal to move yet again. We estimate that at least 17,000 children in Gaza are now unaccompanied or have become separated from their families, a number that would surely increase in the event of further population displacement. It is imperative to refrain from further military escalation in and around Rafah and to ensure that all hostages still inside Gaza are urgently and safely released. If the parties do not heed this call, they will be responsible for the deaths of many more children, in addition to the thousands who have already perished. Parties to the conflict should urgently implement a permanent humanitarian ceasefire so that our group and other humanitarian agencies can help to roll out the massive, multi-agency operation that is so desperately needed. I strongly urge the authorities to allow more aid trucks through border checks, to lift restrictions on the movement of humanitarian workers, and to guarantee safety for people accessing and distributing aid. The destruction of Gaza and killing of civilians will not bring peace or safety to the region. That can only be achieved with a negotiated political solution, one that prioritizes the rights and well-being of this and future generations of Israeli and Palestinian children." 🌍 Sudan’s Crisis Deepens: Civilians Urgently Need Protection The conflict in Sudan has escalated into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Violence between rival militaries has displaced over 11 million people, creating severe food insecurity and cutting off access to essential aid in many regions. Innocent civilians, including women and children, are bearing the brunt of this conflict, facing threats of violence, hunger, and lack of medical care. Unity Beyond Borders joins the UN in urgently calling for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need. Only through an immediate cessation of hostilities and committed peace efforts can we protect lives and restore hope for Sudan’s people. #SudanCrisis #HumanitarianAid #ProtectCivilians #PeaceForSudan #SDG16 #SDG2

Attacks on UNRWA are attacks on the UN and the multilateralism it represents. There is no alternative to UNRWA, there is no alternative to the UN. Philippe Lazarrini, the Commissioner-General of UNRWA discusses at the Institute for Advanced Studies. All member states committed to peace and rule of law should support UNRWA politically and financially. https://lnkd.in/dztXGneh
UNRWA is an irreplaceable lifeline for millions of Palestinians. Its extensive network of staff and infrastructure is needed now more than ever. UNRWA has more schools, medical facilities, warehouses, offices and staff than all other humanitarian agencies in the Occupied Palestinian Territory combined. No other entity has the capacity or reach to deliver lifesaving aid and social and development services at the scale and the breadth needed in Gaza, and in the Occupied Palestinian Territory in general. UNRWA is a factor of stability and trust. At a time when law and order in Gaza have completely broken down, the void that will be left without UNRWA would be impossible to fill.

In the last week alone, Israeli bombs have killed more than 1150* people in Lebanon. So far, 1 million people have been displaced, including 100,000 who have fled to Syria. Mobile Info Team and ELA have supported people who have fled the Middle East seeking safety in Europe for many years. Over the past year especially, we have been contacted by Palestinians living in Greece who are desperate to reunite with family members trapped in Gaza. We are horrified at the war crimes of Israel's far-right government, whether they are happening in the West Bank, Gaza or Lebanon. We repeat and join the call of international organisations for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon, the Occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza, the guarantee of protection for civilians, unrestricted access to humanitarian aid and medical evacuations, and the establishment of safe routes. For all those seeking safety in Europe, we urge for the right to asylum to be upheld. ➡️We join the Left group of the European Parliament in calling for the suspension of the EU’s trade and association agreement with Israel and demand an immediate and unconditional arms embargo on Israel. https://lnkd.in/eASnFSke ➡️ To donate directly to citizen-led initiatives providing aid to displaced populations in Lebanon: https://lnkd.in/eKMZDbA3 *Report from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. #StopSendingArms #EndtheOccupation #CeasefireNow

BREAKING: In a joint statement, 17 NGOs call on EU and Member States to sustain vital UNRWA funding. "This is a moment of reckoning for the EU as a humanitarian leader & critical donor for Gaza crisis" says Niamh Nic Carthaigh from the Plan International EU Office. “Any further cuts to UNRWA funding would be an effective death sentence for civilians trapped in Gaza and the region who rely on the agency for their survival. With a population facing starvation and two million people in need of life-saving assistance, over half of them children, ensuring UNRWA can continue providing aid is more vital than ever. So too is the need to ramp up the wider humanitarian response and ensure an immediate and permanent ceasefire. The world is watching, and bold leadership from the EU is urgently required.” Full statement: https://lnkd.in/eYjVXSe6

Intense fighting between rival factions in Sudan has resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians over the past two days, according to local sources and humanitarian organizations. The clashes, centered in major urban areas, have caused widespread devastation, with homes destroyed and families forced to flee. Many of the casualties are reported to be women and children, caught in the relentless crossfire as warring groups battle for control. The violence has further compounded an already critical humanitarian crisis in the country. Aid agencies have warned of severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, as the conflict has disrupted delivery routes and overwhelmed local hospitals. International leaders have urged an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of peace talks, expressing deep concern over the escalating loss of civilian lives. Despite these calls, the violence shows no signs of abating, leaving Sudan’s future hanging in the balance. #SudanConflict #CivilianCasualties #HumanitarianCrisis #CallForPeace #StopTheViolence
