👍 Benefits of ensuring #FoodSafety 🥙 🍒 Ensuring food safety is essential for the well-being and #health of all individuals worldwide. Food safety refers to the conditions and practices that preserve the quality of food to prevent contamination and food-borne illnesses. This includes post harvest handling, storage, and preparation of food. Here are some advantages of prioritizing food safety: 🏋♀️Healthier Communities: Safe food practices like cooking food thoroughly, storing it in clean environments, and using #organic food preservatives reduce the risk of #foodborne illnesses, leading to healthier individuals and communities. Proper storage and prevention of contamination also safeguards individuals against harmful bacteria and pathogens, like salmonella, which can cause diseases like typhoid fever. 💪 Consumer Confidence: When consumers trust that the food they eat is safe, they are more likely to trust and recommend these food providers to their peers. This confidence builds strong relationships between consumers and food providers, ultimately benefiting businesses in the long run. . Consumers tend to prefer purchasing food from restaurants, grocery stores, and markets that are recognized for their adherence to food safety standards. #EconomicStability: Food safety practices contribute to economic stability by minimizing the costs associated with foodborne illnesses. Businesses save on healthcare expenses, while governments spend less on managing outbreaks and emergencies related to unsafe food practices. In Uganda where #agriculture forms the foundation of the economy, ensuring food safety is crucial for enhancing the country's exports and boosting its #GDP. #Rootical has established several enterprises with the goal of improving food safety. One of these enterprises, EcoLogic Social Enterprise provides organic farm inputs specifically designed for #smallholderfarmers. Another enterprise, Plenti-Uganda, focuses on solar drying services to reduce the risk of #aflatoxin contamination. Additionally, Eden Seeds reintroduces #indigenous organic seeds to restore soil nutrients. Let's work together to ensure that the food we consume is healthy and nutritious. Food Safety - A cornerstone for health and economic growth. Food #safety is not just a matter of common sense; it is a scientific discipline that draws from a wide range of academic fields, including chemistry, microbiology and engineering. These diverse schools of thought converge to ensure that food-processing safety is carried out wherever food products are sourced, manufactured, prepared, stored or sold. Ensuring food safety is a shared responsibility, and everyone has a role to play. As a manufacturer, we play our role by being vigilant and responsible when it comes to food safety. We keep our promise by ensuring that every meal you consume is free from harmful contaminants and disease-causing agents that threaten our health and wellbeing. That is why #TUNDAMAX has partnered with KIRDI for Research and Development and KEBS for standardisation and certification. This has enabled us to tap into new technologies and vast research poised towards preventing both communicable and non-communicable diseases like obesity, foodborne illnesses and metabolic diseases in Kenya. As we grapple with the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, it is also evident that amidst that, the world population is growing with food markets expanding tremendously. This has catapulted food production and distribution to be more complex, making food safety compliance a top tier critical facet than before. At TUNDAMAX, we are always afront to harness and implement the latest technologies and modern methods of safe food practices. FAO & World Health Organization each year commemorate June 7th as "World Food Safety Day" to highlight the importance of food safety in every day life. To me, this year's theme almost sounded like a warning of sorts😅 - "Prepare for the Unexpected". As a Quality professional in the Agri-Food industry, ensuring consumer health comes foremost and to achieve that I try to stay updated with the industry regulations as much as I can. But that isn't possible practically for everyone, so here are 3 simple tips for everyone involved in the food industry to keep in mind to be prepared! Yes, each and everyone are involved in the food industry if you consume food for your sustenance :) - Document everything. I have learnt this the hard way but documentation is a literal saviour. It helps to easily analyse if we've gone wrong somewhere. - Read food labels! Check for the date of manufacture, expiry, allergen warnings and everything in between. - As much as you can, pls try to not waste food. Try to use up the resources to the maximum so that it doesn't end up in the landfill unnecessarily. That's it, thankyou for reading if you've reached till here. Let's commit to enhancing our food safety practices and protect the health of our communities to ensure a safer future for all!
