"What scares me about this disease is that there are so many men walking around feeling great and have that cancer in them and they don't know it," Mourning told ESPN. "The only way to find out is to get their blood tested and get their PSA checked. There are 3.3 million men living in the U.S. with prostate cancer, and many don't even know it. I was one of those guys." Alonzo Mourning, the 7-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion spoke to ESPN about his recent prostate removal and the importance of early detection through PSA screenings.

Should we be testing men for prostate cancer earlier? Sir Chris Hoy is bravely sharing his personal journey with prostate cancer, helping to raise awareness of the most common cancer among men in the UK. If detected early, prostate cancer is highly treatable, which has sparked important discussions about whether we should be testing men sooner, particularly those at higher risk, such as those with a close family history of the disease. 🔬 Taking a Closer Look at Dysplasia 🔍 Based on our current understanding of oral cancer, we believe that cancer often has a precancerous stage. In the oral cavity, white lesions, such as leukoplakia, and red lesions, such as erythroplakia, can be classified as precancerous lesions. The severity of dysplasia is classified along a spectrum from mild to severe by the pathologist. These lesions should be biopsied, and if dysplasia is found, the lesion needs to be treated. If you have been found to have a precancerous lesion or diagnosed with dysplasia, don't delay—make an appointment to see one of our providers at the Oral Cancer Institute for further evaluation and treatment. Hello Linkers 👋 Thank you so much to everyone who has kindly sent me pictures of their gorgeous pets, spectacular views, and lovely messages. It has really lifted me, following my news yesterday. There is always hope. 🙏 Positives here re cancer & my mum.... My mum, unlike my Dad, goes to her Dr as soon as there's anything wrong, or she's worried about. The growth on her face has got bigger, and yes I am worried...however she was seen pretty fast & they're operating this Saturday! So we shouldn't have to wait too long for further news! On the subject of my Dad, who didn't do anything for 2 years!!!! The growth on his head was Basal Cell Carcinoma & he had to have a massive operation to remove a huge area on his scalp, that looked horrific, I'm not gonna lie! 😳 However, his subsequent scans have been clear so far. 🙌 A reminder that according to Cancer Research UK, 1 in 2 of us will get cancer at some point in our lives. For me & my partner, for my parents, that's 2 in 2! I talk about it. I encourage openness & raise awareness. We need to be talking about it! The 'taboo topic' of cancer must be discussed openly, in workplaces & wider society. Because by not discussing it, we create more fear, stigma, guilt, and even shame. Think about this...1 in 2, means 50% of the population, that's 50% of your staff! Ask yourself, why aren't companies having these cancer conversations? Because they feel out of their depth, they aren't equipped to deal with it. They don't know where to start, so they don't start at all. Well that's where I come in. As it's very well known that people relate best to people who have lived experience. I can help you start those conversations with your staff. So that you can support them, now & in the future. Support starts here. Book a virtual coffee chat with me, link is in my profile. Or DM me & I'll send you the link privately. Together we can make a positive difference ✨️ Thank you. 🫂

Fucking cancer..... First me (breast cancer 2020 mastectomy within a month) Then my partner (Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma 2022 ~ very rare & shyte prognosis, stage 4) My mum's brother 2022 (sadly terminal on diagnosis) My Dad 2023 (Basal Cell Carcinoma stage 2 to 3) Now my Mum (Growth on face, unsure exactly what as too much in shock to ask her) My mum!!! As if my Dad, wasn't absolutely horrific enough 😢 Noooooo F.U.C.K Y.O.U CANCER!!!! Haven't you 'got me' enough yet, already?! 🤬 😢 Update: I have had clear mammograms since my mastectomy 🙌 My partner is awaiting scan results, but all have been clear since his large tumour was removed 🙏 Dad has had clear scans since his massive scalp & tumour removal 👏 Mum is having hers removed on Saturday this week, so fingers crossed 🤞 Please send photos of pets! 🐈🐩🐕🐖🐇🐀🐁🐓 🐍 Fluffy, feathery or smooth! I am currently in a state of shock 😲 Apologies for lack of responses in advance.

Cancer in Pets - An Overview. When cells or tissues in the body begin to grow abnormally and uncontrollably, this is called neoplasia. A tumor, or a swelling of the part of the body, is a created as a result of uncontrolled cell growth. Tumors can be either benign or malignant. A benign tumor is not invasive, meaning the rapidly growing cells are localized to one area and do not invade the rest of the body. However, malignant tumors are made up of cells that spread throughout the body (metastasize) and harm other tissues, most commonly the lung and lymph nodes. The term “cancer” specifically refers to malignant tumors which spread and grow rapidly throughout other areas of the body.
