Survey A survey is still a very common method to gather quantitative information. A survey is a method of collecting self-reported data from those who receive the survey. There are a few of downsides of conducting a survey to gather insights: -Poorly written questions -May not get accurate, honest answers -You will not learn the "why" behind their answers -Low response rate -Answer options may be interpreted differently, thus causing inaccurate responses #uxd #uxmethod #methodmonday #ux101 #cx #ux #uxdesign #uxrs #designresearch #designstrategy #uxresearchandstrategy #uxmethodmonday #userexperience #uxresearch #userresearch #uxlearning #uxprocess #uxinspiration #designinspiration #uxresearcher #creativethinking

Affinity map Also known as an affinity diagram, an affinity map is a way of organizing and clustering information to more easily analyze it. Using an affinity map, like on a physical or virtual whiteboard, can help a person quickly make sense of user research by finding patterns, like themes, in your data. #uxd #uxterms #termtuesday #ux101 #ux #uxdesign #uxrs #terminologytuesday #designresearch #designstrategy #uxresearchandstrategy #userexperience #uxresearch #userresearch #uxlearning #uxprocess #uxinspiration #designinspiration #uxresearcher #creativethinking

Quantitative data can be thought of as falling on a spectrum from metrics with the least fidelity (discrete binary data like completion rates) to the most fidelity in a continuous measure (task time and revenue). Because continuous measures have higher fidelity, they require smaller sample sizes to detect significant differences. #ux #uxr #userexperience #userresearch #uxresearch

Backcasting Do you want to understand the circumstances that lead up to a current situation? Try Backcasting. Backcasting in a process is looking back in time to understand the steps that led to the current situation. Backcasting is done to get a better understanding of what steps or circumstances lead to where things are now. This gathering of information is done to help determine where things might have been adjusted to create a different path, and therefore a different outcome. #uxd #uxmethod #methodmonday #ux101 #cx #ux #uxdesign #uxrs #designresearch #designstrategy #uxresearchandstrategy #uxmethodmonday #userexperience #uxresearch #userresearch #uxlearning #uxprocess #uxinspiration #designinspiration #uxresearcher #creativethinking

Chunking Chunking happens when individual pieces of information are broken down and then grouped together in a meaningful way to help the person better remember the information. This is why a phone number is broken up into smaller segments, often broken by hyphens, to help a person remember the sequence of numbers more easily. #uxd #uxterms #termtuesday #ux101 #ux #uxdesign #uxrs #terminologytuesday #designresearch #designstrategy #uxresearchandstrategy #userexperience #uxresearch #userresearch #uxlearning #uxprocess #uxinspiration #designinspiration #uxresearcher #creativethinking

Critical Incident Technique Hearing about a critical, or very important moment, in your customer's process is helpful in understanding their priorities, concerns and important tasks. Critical Incident Technique can help you design experiences that matter the most to the user. Having a user walk through the last time they experienced something very positive or negative, is using the Critical Incident Technique. Gathering data can be done via interviews, a diary study or other storytelling methods. Use the Critical Incident Technique to understand what is really important to your user. #uxd #uxmethod #methodmonday #ux101 #cx #ux #uxdesign #uxrs #designresearch #designstrategy #uxresearchandstrategy #uxmethodmonday #userexperience #uxresearch #userresearch #uxlearning #uxprocess #uxinspiration #designinspiration #uxresearcher #creativethinking
