⚗ 🌿 The AVI Biofungate project has successfully concluded!   Led by our R&D team as a partner, through Idai Nature, one of the 12 companies in the Rovensa Next business unit, the project developed an innovative encapsulation system for essential oils (EOs), which degrade easily in the environment and have biological activity against plant pathogens.   Using mesoporous silica materials with biomolecular gates, the system releases EOs in a controlled way in the presence of pathogenic fungi. Two biocontrol solutions were formulated and validated in the field, showing great potential. 🆕 #InvestIn | #Tudela, firm candidate to host Europe’s leading centre for #innovation and production of #microalgae The project, presented by the Asociación Empresa Ribera (#AER), is set to become a benchmark in the fight against #decarbonisation and the generation of qualified employment in the region. To this end, a plan has been designed that includes the construction of a series of modern research laboratories capable of housing up to 25 researchers, together with areas for the cultivation of three species of microalgae on a surface area of approximately 50,000 square metres. Odense hosts the first Biosolutions conference 💡🌿 How can we harness the potential of biosolutions to create a thriving industry? This question will be explored as national and international stakeholders gather in Odense on November 28th to spotlight the future of biosolutions, organized by Food & Bio Cluster Denmark. A blooming biosolutions industry not only boosts the economy but is also key to building a sustainable future. Denmark is at the forefront of this movement in Europe, and Odense is rapidly establishing itself as a hub for biosolutions, where companies in the sector collaborate to create innovative and sustainable solutions. Hosting the conference in Odense is a significant benefit for local companies. 🤝 The Danish biosolutions sector contributes DKK 13 billion annually to the economy. After wind technology, biosolutions is the technology area where Denmark holds the strongest international position (measured by patenting activity). Odense is experiencing rapid growth in this field, with companies such as Nordic microbes, Evosep Biosystems, Orifarm, ALGIECEL, and many more leading the charge. These companies, along with many others, will gather on November 28th at Forskerparken for the Biosolutions conference. 🌿 GO SUPRA BIOLIVA Project: Innovation in the Olive Sector 🌿 On September 19th, the GO SUPRA BIOLIVA project, an R&D initiative that promises to transform the olive sector, was presented at the National Agro-Food Technological Center of Extremadura (CTAEX). This project, where AZCATEC Tecnología e Ingeniería participates as a partner and coordinator, aims to obtain high-value-added bioactive compounds from olive by-products. These compounds have significant health benefits, opening new opportunities in various sectors. During the event, our colleague Andrés García Zamora, R&D and Business Development Manager at AZCATEC, highlighted the project’s innovation and the creation of a portable and modular pilot plant, which will process by-products directly at the mills, using green solvents to reduce environmental impact. 🌍 This project, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and supported by the Junta de Andalucía, reflects our strong commitment to sustainability and the development of innovative technologies that drive the circular economy in the olive sector. This workshop aimed to equip the consortium with a shared understanding of how to effectively exploit research results and implement IPR management strategies to protect our valuable outcomes.🔐 María C.
