At our Ancona shipyard, we delivered #VikingVela, the first in a new series of cruise ships we are building for Viking and the 13th ship we have delivered to the shipowner, including the two expedition cruise vessels built by VARD.   The unit, with a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons, 499 cabins and a capacity for 998 passengers on board, has been built according to the latest navigation and safety regulations, equipped with high-efficiency engines and systems that minimize the pollution of exhaust gases.   With a total of 26 ships either ordered or under contract and options, we bring on board an enduring relationship with Viking to design and build increasingly advanced, high-tech and sustainable units that meet the most stringent environmental regulations.   #Fincantieri #FutureOnBoard #Innovation #Sustainability

Four fully electric ferries are coming to BC's coast in 2027. The first steel was cut on the third ship at Damen Shipyards this week. The new ships will plug in and charge in dock between sailings. Great to see us taking another step closer to zero emission sailings.

Cue dramatic music 🤩 Two major milestones at Damen Shipyards Galati yesterday bring us another step closer to introducing the first fully electric ferries to the #BCFerries fleet. Steel cutting began for the third of four new Island Class vessels, and another reached the grand block assembly stage. These ferries are a critical part of our plan to reduce emissions by 2030. Scheduled to start arriving in 2027, these four new vessels will eliminate approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. Charging towers supplied by Damen will be installed at terminals where they will recharge the batteries on board between sailings as customers board and disembark. The new vessels will operate between #NanaimoHarbour and #GabriolaIsland, and #CampbellRiver and #QuadraIsland. Somec Group's Oxin Onboard Kitchen Systems, part of #Talenta, recently completed a successful #refit project aboard the #VikingStar, a 47,842 GT cruise liner built by FINCANTIERI in 2015. The goal was to align the vessel with the configuration of the latest #Vela-class ships in the Viking Cruises fleet. The Viking Star underwent a comprehensive Dry Dock, starting in #Barcelona and concluding at the #Genova San Giorgio del Porto shipyard, from November 10 to December 2. The project involved the demolition and transformation of key catering and deck areas, including the Main Galley and the Lido Deck, successfully delivered on schedule. This achievement was made possible by the skill and dedication of over 20 specialized technicians from the #Oxin team. The #refitting and modernization of cruise ships play a vital role in the ongoing evolution of the cruise industry. TrueNoord, the specialist regional aircraft lessor, has leased two De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft to Norway's largest regional operator, Widerøe’s Flyveselskap AS. These 2013 vintage aircraft are part of TrueNoord’s portfolio acquisition from NAC, marking the company’s first transaction in #Norway and expanding its presence across the #Nordic region.
