🚨 Are Companies Missing Out on Tech Talent, leverage your "Testing Period"? 🚨 I've noticed a troubling trend in the hiring process, especially in tech-based fields: companies are often too quick to dismiss candidates during the interview stage, failing to fully leverage the "testing period" for new employees. 💻 Many highly talented developers are introverted by nature—it's a common trait in our industry. But instead of considering how these candidates will perform on the job, companies are placing too much emphasis on how they present themselves in a brief interview. Communication skills with strangers? That's not always reflective of someone's technical expertise or how they'll function on a team. I keep hearing horror stories of candidates surprised by a need to relocate at the end of their interviews. I've said it once and I'll say it again, set clear expectations with candidates up front. Quick suggestions for companies to communicate early (i.e. - in job postings): 💻 Remote / Hybrid / In-person? 🌎 "How" remote? (North America only? EU only?) 🛩 If In-Person, is relocation assistance included? Be intentional and be communicative - candidates will love you for it.

The cost to hire for a senior role if prolonged to 2+ months is $35 000. Moreover, long, complex hiring processes lose great candidates. Apart from sending the wrong message to all candidates. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. When I was building my startup, we did not have that kind of money. Or time. We needed to ship our product. While hiring, which turned out to be a full-time position for me. A person with no experience (at the time). Desperate times call for desperate measures. I created a blueprint of tech interviewing process. 2 hours per candidate - from Hi! to hired. Simple rejection emails to let everyone else get their closure. Grab it if you need it. Read through it if you are drowning in work.
