Are Subscription based models good for the consumer? Here we look into HP latest attempt into forcing customers to pay for a "subscription based" ink service and the downside it comes comes. As subsequent users found out, if you, at any stage, decide to stop this "subscription" to their ink service, HP can remotely disable the printer, even if the cartridge has sufficient ink in it. This maybe a simple version, but what if it was a "subscription based EV" which "stopped in the middle of the road" cause "your monthly fee didn't arrive on time" ? or a medical device? #saas #subscription #revenue

Very interesting expose on our subscription business culture and how it's taking "ownership" away from consumers, using subscriptions and software tethering. Note: keep and repair your old HP printers, and do not buy networked printers! What are your thoughts?? https://lnkd.in/gXg27eCm

Just viewed a great message on YT regarding subscription fees others may find of great value to know. Pardon some of the language in the video due to consumer frustration from getting ripped of by "forced" subscription fees. * The average individual pays $300 in monthly - that's monthly - subscription fees. * Many companies are deceptively requiring subscription fees after purchasing their products in order to use certain features. (Yes, we are all adults and should do our research or return products when we become aware of this. But if we find these things out after the fact, such as after making a major purchase like a car, that would be incredibly difficult to return. * BMW was charging $18/m for heated seats! * A practice called "tethering" allows a company to turn your product off remotely if you don't pay! * Learn how consumer with law firms are doing to help us reduce some deceptive/bad/dumb/immoral practices and what you can do. * I just found this channel. Take a look. https://lnkd.in/g-7337wW
