We're thrilled to announce that our own Professor Peter Vamplew and Associate Professor Cameron Foale from the Centre for Smart Analytics (CSA) have been awarded $127,000 in funding from Founders Pledge, a UK-based charitable initiative. This grant will support their research into multi-objective reinforcement learning to enhance the safety of advanced AI systems. This project is a collaborative effort with the Australian Responsible Autonomous Agents Collective, including experts from Federation University, Deakin University, and the University of New South Wales. Their work focuses on training AI to balance multiple objectives, ensuring solutions that are not only effective but also safe and ethical. As Professor Vamplew puts it, "If you're training a self-driving car, you want it to be quick, safe, and efficient. Overlooking any one factor can lead to serious issues. Our goal is to develop AI that can make balanced decisions across all necessary objectives." This funding will help employ a research assistant to tackle initial challenges, laying the foundation for more complex AI safety solutions. We’re immensely proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing the positive impacts of their research. 👇 This was a great webinar, and it was really good to have charity examples to show how Al is being used in innovation/project scoping. I was talking over the desk about it today and it brought up a great discussion on using Al in our projects. I feel it could really add value to our mass participation events and how to grow them in particular. Thanks Good Innovation :) #innovation #charityinnovation #CharityAl #massparticipation #innovate

🚀 Funding for Series A and B in the US just had a glow-up in H1 2024! 💰 It’s up 34% from last year. Remember when those big Series A rounds peaked back in 2021? They slowed down a bit, but guess what? They’re back on the rise! 📈 Most of this funding surge is focused on hefty amounts, especially in the hot sectors of healthcare/biotech and AI. [Let’s keep an eye on how this plays out!](https://lnkd.in/guutu7fY) 👀 #VentureCapital #FundingTrends
