Allego (NYSE: ALLG) has secured a €20 million loan from the EBRD as part of the CROSS-E project, co-funded by the EU, to expand its EV-charging infrastructure in #Poland. This initiative aims to enhance electric vehicle adoption in Poland, which currently has one of the lowest EV charging penetrations in Europe. Allego will deploy over 200 LDV/HDV recharging points across 50+ strategic locations, integrating them into its existing network, and providing comprehensive maintenance and operational support. *Driving Towards a Greener Future: Victorian Greenhouse Alliances' Recommendations for EV Transition* 🚗 🚙 🚛 Last month, EAGA together with the other Greenhouse Alliances’ provided a submission to the federal inquiry on the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The Alliances suggested adjusting truck regulations and road-user charges to incentivise a diverse supply of efficient, affordable, and second-hand EVs. The submission also emphasised addressing residential charging barriers, improving visibility of network capacity, implementing national standards of service delivery, developing an EV Battery Recycling Program, and introducing low and zero-emissions zones in city sectors. These recommendations aim to promote equitable access to EVs, accelerate charging infrastructure deployment, and ensure sustainable transportation practices. Aishah Daniyal: “The slow progress in expanding EV charging stations is due to the high installation and operational costs, especially in rural areas, and this has hampered a higher growth in its adoption. “In rural areas, charging stations often have low usage, making them financially unviable. To break even, at least two EVs would need to use a station daily but many of them have few to no users.” — This is why rural areas need direct government assistance in the form of matching grants to help extend charging infrastructure to less-than-profitable areas. This site will be followed by five additional charging locations in the municipalities of Ringsaker, Sandefjord, Gjesdal, Bergen, and Malvik.
