A recent report from Culture Reframed reveals that 1 in 3 children have been exposed to explicit, hardcore pornography by age 12, which equates to roughly 25 million children in the U.S. alone. This exposure is alarming in many ways, one being that it often serves as a form of sex education for these young minds. Even more concerning is that over 87% of pornographic content portrays sexual violence against women. While this is a serious issue, there’s a solution. By providing comprehensive, ongoing sex education, we can empower children to make informed, healthy decisions based on real-life relationships, not the damaging depictions they see on a screen. 240,000,000 people have sex daily. That's 10 million people an hour or 166,666 people a minute. This is relevant because: You realize that it's universal and everywhere, at all times, even though it's happening (at least most of the time) behind curtains. Many people are having sex, but with very little sex education globally available. That leads to a lot of frustration and bad sex. That's why it makes my heart jump when the Cosmopolitan Taiwan just published an article based on our input. Sex is universal! That's why sex education is needed everywhere. Let's not ban it but embrace it! We welcome this important new report from Sex Education Forum which focuses on what young people want from #RSE Young people say RSHE in primary schools should be more robust and must teach the importance of consent and how to question and challenge gender stereotypes. They also call for flexibility for schools to cover the RSE topics at the age their pupils need and call for more support and training for teachers. We completely agree! ... and the sales bit - sorry - the Family Planning Association's Yasmine and Tom resource for primary schools is designed by teachers to cover everything you need for a high-quality #RSHE programme. First things first, please take a look at the Sex Education Forum report - it makes for an interesting read.
