As per THE 2030 AGENDA FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, the plan for action involves people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership thus seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. I learnt in the Transforming Our World course that we need SDG's because all the economic growth that has been achieved as well as the reduction of poverty in many places still needs to serve the goal of a holistic approach to economic development that counts not only on economic growth, ending extreme poverty, social fairness and justice but also environmental sustainability.

I have completed a self study course on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, it was very insightful and useful in starting to think about how I can become a Global Citizen. #humansofmcrmetrise

🚨 Driving a just transition requires a series of concerted efforts to mitigate regressive impacts, shape incentives, create an enabling environment for inclusive green growth, and provide support to those at risk of being left behind. To this end, I am proud to have co-authored a handbook for catalyzing a just transition with Paula Sevilla Núñez and Raquel Jesse at Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies. It summarizes tools that can be used by countries to account for equity and justice considerations, in addition to the conservation and growth imperatives when planning a just transition. https://lnkd.in/dz_PWBrh . #justtransition

The World Bank released the report, "Blueprints for Private Investment in Ecosystem Restoration - Lessons from Case Studies". This report is a product of the Finance Task Force of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, an initiative led by the UNEP and the FAO. While restoration is often viewed as the purview of the public sector, this report demonstrates opportunities for private sector investment- project developers, corporates, financial institutions—that are considering investing in restoration. Development partners and philanthropic foundations are also important audiences, given their critical role in providing catalytic financing that can unlock private finance. This report also highlights action areas for policymakers, who have a role to play in creating a conducive policy environment for such ecosystem restoration investments.  #nature #ecosystem #restoration High-Level Climate Champions

The importance of the Sustainable Development Goals The beauty of the goals is that everyone can contribute, and every contribution, small or big, will make an impact on our world. In our industry, we have seen how the goals have shaped the business environment, and for the better. The Paris Agreement alone has helped open up US$ 23 trillion in business opportunities for emerging markets for climate-smart investments. Working primarily in developing and transitional countries, we see the impact, both the negative impact of the changing environment and the growing inequality, but also the positive impact of the goals and how they are helping create better opportunities for the local communities. We have to use this momentum and keep pushing towards achieving the goals, so we can create a better world for us all.
