By using the Volvo Penta electric IPS propulsion line, we make zero emission more reachable for you by: ✅ Using less energy to propel the boat vs conventional drivelines (= less need for batteries or charging = less OPEX and CAPEX) ✅ Reduced manouverability time by appr. 50% , increasing charging time at the dock (less batteries required = Less CAPEX) ✅ improved acceleration by another 30 to 50%, increasing charging time at the dock. (Still able to reach your timetable) One of our focus area’s within Volvo Penta marine commercial is People transportation (over water). This huge global segment has also the clear wish and capabilities to transfer to zero emission technology and ticks a lot of boxes to reach this by electrification. What I learned at the Interferry conference in Hobart end of last year is that building an electric ferry is not an issue. The available charging time during the daily operation at the dock is the key here. So increase docking time from 2 to 3-4 minutes, means 50-100% more charging time, making electric sailing more realistic. Michelin North America is partnering with Trailer Aerodynamics for Michelin Energy Guard, which the company says can save money for fleets while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

ePropulsion Americas has unveiled new 96V marine propulsion products aimed at boatbuilders, expanding its electric drive offerings for the 2025 model year.  The firm showcased three new products at the recent METSTRADE. The Pod Drive 20 eSSA is central to the launch, a compact under-hull motor unit compatible with Volvo and Yanmar sail drive mounts.
