Vision Optronix’s Post

Another interesting Photonics Hot List for the week, brought to you by Justine Murphy and LaserFocusWorld: A imager (see comments) and two laser reports; UK-based Directed Energy and a chip-scale Ti-Sapphire laser. 2nd story shows a research imaging device that provides VIS/NIR response, using TiO2 (titanium dioxide) and Sb2Se3 (antimony triselenide) for VIS and Sb2Se3 for NIR. Notably, Silicon's bandgap of 1.1eV puts the cut-off at ~1100nm. So, unfiltered CMOS will provide some NIR response. They say it's Nature/Salmon inspired. (I'd also like to note that China recently added Antimony to Germanium and Gallium to their export controls, which require licensing for purchases from certain nations.) https://lnkd.in/gHNGhcjr
