👩⚕️ 👨⚕️ On this World Health Day we'd like to talk about #InclusiveHealth. Ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey towards better health is important, especially if you're in the health care business. Even in the present day, persons with disabilities encounter obstacles when trying to access healthcare services. These challenges may involve physical barriers like entering healthcare facilities or the absence of secure patient transfer methods. 🤔 We think that there's so much left to do. And know that we cannot erase all the barriers and obstacles of everyday life, but we can do what we do best – make a building accessible to everyone. Our mission is to bring people together. 💭 What do you think is the most important to make health more inclusive?

🌍 Celebrating World Health Day: My Health, My Rights 🌍 Today, as we observe World Health Day, let's reflect on a theme that resonates deeply in our hearts and minds: "My Health, My Rights." This day is a reminder of the fundamental truth that everyone deserves access to healthcare, free from discrimination, stigma, or financial hardship. 🔵 Empowerment through Information 🔵 Knowledge is power. Access to accurate health information and education empowers individuals to make informed choices about their health. Let's commit to advocating for transparent, accurate, and accessible health information for all. 🟢 Equity in Healthcare 🟢 Health equity means that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. This requires removing obstacles to health such as poverty, discrimination, and their consequences, including powerlessness and lack of access to good jobs with fair pay, quality education and housing, safe environments, and healthcare. 🔴 Advocacy for Rights 🔴 Today, let's also pledge to advocate for health policies that promote and protect individual rights. Let's work together to create environments where everyone can access quality health services without facing financial hardship. As professionals, leaders, and community members, we have a role to play in shaping a healthier, more equitable world. Whether it's through our work, our advocacy, or our daily actions, let's commit to making "My Health, My Rights" a reality for every person, everywhere. On this World Health Day, let's unite in solidarity for health equity, rights, and justice. Because health is not just a personal matter; it's a fundamental human right. Today, the 77th World Health Assembly kicks off in Geneva, under the theme "Health Assembly is: All for Health, Health for All." mothers2mothers looks forward to engaging with partners on the critical health issues of our time, and to share the 20+ years of ripple effect of m2m female community health workers (CHWs). CHWs are vital for universal health coverage (UHC)! Undeniable evidence shows that CHWs deliver primary health care in a way that improves access, increases equity, and saves lives. That’s why at #WHA77 we’re advocating for professional CHW (#proCHWs) who are salaried, skilled, supervised, and supplied to be the norm worldwide. World Health Day serves as a pivotal moment each year to reflect on the state of global health and to mobilize action towards achieving equitable and accessible healthcare for all. This year, the theme “My Health, My Right” emphasizes the inherent human right to health and the agency individuals possess over their own well-being. This theme underscores the critical importance of recognizing health as a fundamental human right, irrespective of socioeconomic status, gender, ethnicity, or geography. By placing the spotlight on this fundamental right, World Health Day 2024 urges governments, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and communities to prioritize health equity and invest in initiatives that ensure universal access to healthcare services. Moreover, the theme “My Health, My Right” highlights the empowerment of individuals to take ownership of their health. It encourages individuals to advocate for their rights, make informed decisions about their healthcare, and actively participate in shaping policies and practices that affect their well-being. Mother and Girl-Child Protection Initiative (MAGI) stands at the forefront of advocacy for health equity and empowerment, aligning our mission with the global theme. Through our transformative programs, we invest in the potential of the girl child, breaking down barriers to education and opportunity, and fostering leadership skills that enable them to become advocates for their rights. Let us amplify the message that health is not just a privilege but a fundamental human right, commit to driving positive change, advancing health equity, and empowering women and girls to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. #worldhealthday2024 #myhealthmyright #empowerher

#Indigenous Peoples' voices must be included in resource development for health education and staff training resources for direct care clinicians and #healthleadership roles. The dominance of western health knowledge and beliefs continues to overshadow Indigenous wellness perspectives and ways of being, knowing and doing, which leads to barriers to accessing and providing healthcare services that are #highquality, safe and relevant, write Lisa Bourque Bearskin, Liquaa Wazni, Melnyk Rose, Nikki Rose Hunter-Porter et al in "Moving Beyond Ignorance and Epistemic Violence: Indigenous Health Nurses’ Response to Systems Transformation". https://lnkd.in/gVw44UTS
