Klotz R-1040 (P/N KL-840R) is a racing-only version of the popular Klotz 10W-40 Motorcycle Techniplate Lubricant. The R-1040 formulation has been modified to improve thermal stability under high ambient and/or oil temperatures. This improves the lap-to-lap consistency of the engine’s power output. The unique performance characteristics of R-1040 make it ideally suited for Legend Car racing. In fact, Legend Car testing in the summer of 2023 demonstrated that R-1040 allowed the engine to generate its fastest lap-time of the race during the last lap. In today's #TechTuesday, co-founder Brian Bourne dives into a tire analysis from our recent participation at the GRIDLIFE Midwest Festival. Racing our SCR1 all-electric amateur touring car in the Time Attack unlimited series, we closely examined the Toyo Proxes RR tires provided by Toyo Tires USA. We noticed that the tire wear was fairly even on the inner side, but the outer side exhibited more wear, suggesting that an adjustment in camber might be necessary. Time attack serves as a test bed for the SCR1 because it pushes the vehicle to its limits in short, intense bursts. Wanted to do something easy today and it doesn’t get any more easy than mounting a Varley Racing Batteries battery box from Kollevold Rally Import As 🙌 Found a flat surface on the passanger side, test fitted the seat so it doesn’t interfere with the box, measured, drilled a 8mm hole on each side on the box. Then marked and drilled the floor, mounted with bolts. Not final mounting, as I need some washers.
