This is what untapped potential looks like. No, I am not talking about myself. I am talking about the landscape of Alice Springs stretching out behind me with untold opportunities beneath. Recently, I attended the Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) 2024 - the premier event for forward-thinking resource explorers in the Territory. The highlight for me was the Northern Territory Geological Survey's (NTGS) focus on enhancing gravity coverage across the region, which spoke volumes about Atomionics's thesis on how valuable gravity can be in unlocking the secrets of the land. The seminar was buzzing with optimism from the collective vision of experts and enthusiasts for the region's bright future. This was further underscored by NTGS's emphasis on bringing cutting-edge technology into the region for sustainable resource exploration and extraction. For me, the experience was a reminder of how geoscience is not just about studying the Earth but also about unlocking a world of possibilities and leading the charge toward a sustainable energy future. #AGES2024 #quantumsensing #gravimetry #precisionsensing #precisioninstrument #quantumphysics #quantumgravimetry #resourceexploration #exploration #potential

AGU 2024 & THE FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN GEOSCIENCES Each year, the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) annual meeting, the largest gathering of #Earth and #space scientists on the planet, convenes 25,000+ attendees from 100+ countries to share research and connect with friends and colleagues. Scientists, educators, policymakers, journalists and communicators attend AGU24 to better understand our planet, opening pathways to discovery. I wish for some Australian decision-makers who can influence the future of Earth sciences (geosciences) in #Australia to attend this meeting and get inspired. Unfortunately, the culture of attending these international meetings doesn't exist in the Australian geosciences public sector: e.g. in Geoscience Australia – Australia's preeminent geosciences organisation, early career researchers, who are the bloodstream of research, should be allowed to attend international meetings. This would greatly contribute to the gain of capacity in geoscience education & research when it is most needed. Sadly, we are one of the few Australian research groups in #geophysics remaining. I hope to reconnect with our colleagues in Washington. 📰 We are happy to share this #publication from Jeremie Giraud MSCA Postdoc in Geophysical Journal International : https://lnkd.in/eFax8g5C ✍ with co-authors Mary FORD, Guillaume Caumon, Vitaliy Ogarko, Lachlan Grose, Roland Martin and Paul CUPILLARD. In this paper, Jérémie carries out an exploration of possible #density models explaining the #gravimetric observations of the western Pyrenean zone. At the methodological level, the work combines geometrical #inversion using level-sets, implicit #geological #modeling, and "null-space shuttles". At the #geodynamic level, the paper investigates several models of Iberian crust extension, suggesting that scenarios differing from previous studies modelling the area may also be plausible. This work was carried out in collaboration with the CRPG (Centre de Recherches Pétrographiques et Géochimiques), GET (Geoscience Environment Toulouse), the University of Western Australia, and Monash University. Congratulations for this publication! 👏 #geomodeling #geophysics #geosciences #geoengineering #postdoc #research
