It's 6 AM in Des Moines. The sun is barely up, and I’m already on the job site. My crew won’t be here for another half hour or so. Even the homeowner whose roof we’re working on is probably just getting out of bed. But, as a project manager, it’s a sacrifice I would gladly do every time we have a roof to fix. I have a simple but DIFFICULT mission: To get the job done smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. 1️⃣ Before the crew arrives, I ensure the job site is ready. I double-check the equipment, make sure they’re working properly. For roofing guys like me, SAFETY is the most important thing. Working on a roof is no joke – structural damage, water damage, or fires could occur if the roofers aren’t careful. I always think about the families inside the home and how I can protect them from danger. I think about the members of my crew and how we can avoid accidents on the job. 2️⃣ Once the crew arrives and the job starts, I make crystal clear communication my priority. I listen to the crew, I listen to the homeowner/project manager, and I relay the necessary information. I make sure everyone involved is on the same page. Good communication marks the difference between an efficient job and a sloppy one. Between money-saving decisions and ones that burn a hole in your pocket. 3️⃣ As the day progresses, I regularly check to see if the work is on track. I troubleshoot issues that pop up here and there. 4️⃣ It’s sundown and the work is done. But my day doesn’t end yet. When every one of my crew has left, I stay behind to make sure we cleaned the place up. No debris, no equipment lying around, no part of the roof that’s unfinished. Only when I’m certain that everything’s good do I go home to have dinner with my wife and kids. As you can see, there’s a lot at stake when you’re a project manager overseeing a roofing project. It’s not only hands-on work, but it involves communication, customer service, and administrative work, too! At the core of all that is caring about your team, your clients, and your profession. And that is why I’m always the first one in, and the last one out. #SkilledTrades #ProudTradesperson #Roofing #Construction

Had some brilliant conversations/banter in the office over the past few weeks. Which hasn't always been #constructionindustry related. Yet it has got me thinking........ 🤔 So, we are all different and have different vices, different things that make us tick. So, i'm interested to find out what's your buzz within the #constructionindustry?? When I started interviewing with ODC about a year ago, it was clear that this is a technology and logistics company. Residential shell construction just happens to be the service we deliver...AND BOY DO WE DELIVER. #proudtoworkforODC #webuildfromwhy #residentialshellconstructionexcellence
CENTRALIZED SCHEDULING As Chris Boyd shares, the proprietary software we built to manage all of our jobs includes centralized scheduling for labor and materials. The benefits are not only the efficiency & speed we deliver to clients; but our ability to free-up our ODC Construction Field Managers to focus on the quality of the work being done, the cleanliness of our sites, and the service we provide to our builders. #TechnologyDrivenFieldOps #proprietaryODCsystems #SuperiorService Expect more from your shell contractor, and get in touch to discuss your upcoming communities: Chaz Williams - VP of Business Development Alex Piazza - VP of Account Management John Mancini - Sales Director - Central FL Charley Barley - Sales Director - East FL and Southeast FL Chris Roelse - Sales Director - West FL Adam King - Sales Director - Northeast FL and SC Stacy Fountain - Sales Director - Southwest FL Joe Barnum - Sales Director - Carolinas

My personal mission is to make the construction industry a better place for all people. In 2014, I started interning for a large, national GC building big projects. Ultimately, I decided I wanted to go somewhere I could make an impact more immediately. So, in 2016, I graduated from the University of Maryland and accepted an offer to be a Project Manager/Estimator with a specialty trade contractor in Baltimore. I ran projects, estimated, talked with guys in the shop and the field, ran around to jobs all over Maryland, DC, and Virginia, and eventually was fortunate to be promoted to Vice President of Preconstruction & Sales at 28 years old. I was responsible for getting work. And I loved it! But something was missing for me. Then, in 2023, I finally figured it out. I wanted to chase my passions more directly, so I made the decision to shift my focus from working “in” the construction industry as a sub, to working “on” the construction industry as a consultant helping Contractors all over the country. It was the best decision I’ve made so far in my career because it’s allowed me to live my personal mission of making the construction industry a better place for all people. I think a lot about what we need to do to accomplish that mission, and ultimately I think it comes down to doing 3 things: 1. Dropping outdated beliefs that are hurting the industry 2. Listening more 3. Fighting less If we can do that, I see us slowly changing this industry for the better and positively impacting those in it. I see us waking up and loving what we do every day. I see more people championing work/life balance and thinking long-term about their health. I see more people joining the industry because they believes it's a viable place for a career. If you’re interested in helping with that, then I hope you’ll follow me here on LinkedIn and on my newsletter, Building Balance, where we have a growing community of construction professionals dedicated to making this industry better. Because at the end of the day, it's going to take a little effort from all of us. But I really believe we can get there. How do you think we make the industry better? P.S. Join here (it's free) if you believe in making the industry better: https://lnkd.in/er62dqNz
