✨ I'm so proud to have been a judge in the Growth Explosion category of this years Dynamites Awards ✨ I love award ceremonies—not for the dressing up or the food, but to genuinely celebrate great work .....but it's got me thinking about one of the most popular workshops Chris Cook and I deliver: managing conflict and having difficult conversations. Let’s face it—most of us hate giving (and often receiving) feedback. In our sessions, we usually ask for a show of hands: "Who would avoid having a difficult conversation if they could?" Unsurprisingly, at least three-quarters of the room raise their hand! But here’s the thing… think about when you’ve trained a puppy or helped a small child learn to walk or talk. Do you constantly point out or tell them off when they get it wrong? Of course not! We celebrate their small successes so they know what to repeat. So why don’t we do this with colleagues at work, or even with partners or teenagers at home? This is why I love a good awards ceremony: it's a chance to celebrate and acknowledge great work! 🎉 But here’s the challenge: Are you waiting for an annual awards night or a performance review to tell someone they’re doing a great job? Or are you taking those moments daily, in both your professional and personal relationships, to point out what’s going well? Let’s face it, most of us slip into the habit of focusing on what others could do better—what we don’t like, what we want to change. But when we take the time to praise and recognise the good stuff in the moment, it’s a win-win. You’ll feel good, they’ll feel even better, and you’ll see more of the behaviour you want. So, while I’m looking forward to finding out tonight's winners, let’s not wait for awards season to say, "Well done!" In 2024, for the first time the SEGRA Foundation offers an Emerging Champions program. Held a day prior to the Summit, these Emerging Champions will work with Adam Mostogl to dive into conversations about contributing and making transformation change in the regions. Here is a bit more about five of them.... **Alysha Saunders: My motivation to work in the arts stems from a deep-seated interest in integrating the creative and cultural industries into regional planning, legislation, and policy. Essentially fixing a fundamental issue in how regions develop and are invested in. **Kellie Wilkins: If we have the ability and power to create something that prevents even one child from being disadvantaged, then why wouldn't we try? **Paige Zotti: I believe that by addressing economic disparities and promoting sustainable development, we can create environments where everyone has the chance to succeed and contribute to society. **Alyssa Mahar: By leveraging my skills and passion, I aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and the sustainable trajectory of businesses within the regions. **Louise Custance: From my own experiences, I want to offer community-oriented, cost-effective and authentic design solutions and places for regional communities across Australia while sharing more about the opportunities for built environment professionals beyond the city limits. #SEGRA #RRR #regional #emergingcampions

Innovate Lancashire ’s project lead Hannah Churchman is in #Birmingham today for TechWM's Birmingham Tech Week, one of the UK’s biggest gatherings of tech and innovation influencers. While in Birmingham, Hannah will also be attending the #ScaleLeader's workshop – a forum for policymakers and experts with a shared commitment to accelerating innovation-led growth and increasing levels of tech-led inward investment.
