During a recent talk with Robin Hartmann 🔜 devcom/gamescom we have been circulating around very important questions about why we are attending events and why we are going to the same one repeatedly each year. Sometimes it is for tradition, a good break after GDC, speaker line-up, because business is in the city, chilled vibe, gin and tonic at the beach, FOMO or just in case. The driving force is always community, laughs and camaraderie. And upcoming devcom conference is all about that, plus more. Read more about how you can build a conference with community in mind here: https://lnkd.in/dGuWT82c

Best Practices for Running Successful Web3 Events Running an online event for your Web3 community? Here are three tips to ensure it’s a success: 1. Engage Before the Event: Build anticipation with sneak peeks, polls, or exclusive content leading up to the event. Let your community feel involved from the start. 2. Incentivize Participation: Offering rewards like NFTs or tokens for participation can significantly boost turnout. Everyone loves to be rewarded for their time! 3. Post-Event Follow-Up: Keep the momentum going by sharing a recap, key takeaways, and a call to action for the next steps. This keeps your community engaged long after the event ends. What’s your go to strategy for successful Web3 events?

Earlier this year, from Motiv Venture Studio, we proudly launched Huddl—an innovative event engagement platform designed to enhance both attendee and organizer experiences. Here’s what Huddl achieved at the recent YYC Data Con 2024: ✅ Attendees personalized their event schedules to fit their interests. 🤝 'Networking Bingo' facilitated new and meaningful connections. 📸 A shared conference photo album allowed attendees to post and access memories live. 💬 Real-time engagement through live Q&A sessions with speakers. 🏆 Interactive activities with opportunities to win exclusive prizes. Huddl recorded 889 activations at YYC Data Con 2024, boosting meaningful interactions and providing organizers with crucial insights into engagement levels and attendee behaviours. These insights help organizers refine event strategies for greater impact. Big thank you to YYC Data Society for having us this year and Platform Calgary for the hospitality. 👀 Keep an eye out for upcoming events featuring Huddl on site. If you’re an event organizer, or know one, we’re eager to discuss our pilot program opportunities. Let's create new event experiences together! #MotivVentureStudio #Huddl #EventTech #Innovation

If you’re an event organizer planning for big groups, we have some helpful tips to make your events run smoothly. 1. Switch to Team-Based Games 💯 Switching to team-based games is a great way to manage large groups. Instead of having every person complete tasks individually, form teams that work together to solve riddles, take photos, or find specific objects. This way, everyone is involved, but you won’t have 50+ people running in different directions. 2. Use Multi-Location Hunts 🗺️ Multi-location hunts allow different groups to be active in separate areas at the same time. As teams complete tasks in one location, they move on to the next, spreading the flow of people. 3. Shuffle Chapters to Prevent Crowding 🔄 If your event has different chapters, shuffling the chapters for each team is a simple yet effective way to prevent crowding. As the teams progress, they visit the other chapters in a different order, keeping the event running smoothly. 4. Assign Multiple Moderators 👥 Large crowds can be difficult to manage with just one or two people in charge. Assigning multiple moderators can significantly improve organization and ensure that no single person is overwhelmed by managing the entire crowd. PlayTours offers everything you need to effortlessly manage large groups. With reliable features designed for scalability, you'll ensure every guest has an unforgettable experience. 🤗 Excited to announce that I’ll be speaking at Compete Week 2024! It’s an honor to join an incredible lineup of experts and thought leaders in the competitive intelligence space. 🎉 Reflecting on past Compete Weeks, here are some one-liners and sessions that still resonate with me: 🟣 "Competitive intelligence is 𝘯𝘰𝘵 competitive strategy." 🟣 "How is the intelligence that you’re gathering through different channels helping your teams navigate that landscape?" 🟣 "If the buyer isn't looking at other vendors, they might be at the beginning of the process; if they’re evaluating the full review/market place grid, they know the problem and who could solve it." 🟣 "Consume content that is designed for the people you are selling to (podcasts/books/conferences for law firms vs. SaaS vs. education)." 🟣 Competitive Content Triaging Workflow 🟣 "Looking to the future past 'narrow AI'—how do you see AI being used effectively systemically throughout the organization?" 🟣 Wargaming that Sticks 🟣 Creating a competitive culture in an org where no one has bandwidth 🟣 Identifying your revenue gap and how to close it These insights are just random picks from my PAGES of notes from historical sessions. I can’t wait to attend as many of the other sessions as possible and, of course, to share my session with you all! 👉 Register for my session here: https://hubs.ly/Q02Qm2Nk0 👉 Register for Compete Week 2024: https://lnkd.in/gteXXGZW Hope to see you there! Got a lot of q’s about GDC (Should I get an expo pass? Wait people just meet in hotel lobbies?) so here’s a quick GDC 101. Happy conferencing! - Figure out your goal. Is it to recruit devs? Get funding? BD? That’ll determine how you spend your time - Bring hand sanitizer and fist bump, this conference is always a super spreader event. I got COVID for the first time during the 2021 one - A lot of the best events are outside the conference. Grace Zhou 🔜 GDC has done a great job consolidating a lot them here: https://lnkd.in/gdw6z6xa - The conference itself is great for the show floor, booths, and talks, but most of the networking happens in the Marriott and W, some in the Four Seasons and Ritz - It can help to wear some company swag if you’re there to network. Helps put a face to the company and makes it easy to reconnect at events - Be proactive about networking. A lot of the most important folks have meeting fill up weeks in advance - Find the network nodes for specific groups. A lot of the ex-Riot, ex-Blizzard, ex-Epic etc. alumni networks treat this as one big reunion. You want to meet them? Find some of the core people, impress them, and have them take you along for the ride. High quality people gravitate together. - Give in to serendipity. A lot of my best conversations happened 1AM over fried chicken or dumplings. All you really need is good company and good food, and good things will happen

Nice tool to measure your event success 💪
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐎𝐈 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭? Answer: By using Huddl Last Friday, we successfully launched Huddl, another venture from Motiv's Venture Studio, at the Data Conference organized byYYC Data Society at Platform Calgary. What is Huddl? Huddl is an event engagement app designed for both attendees and event organizers. What problem does it solve? Huddl aims to facilitate networking through a gamified experience, while providing event organizers and sponsors with powerful data and analytics from the event. Some of the features include: - Building your agenda 📆 - Networking Bingo 🎲 - Event Scavenger Hunt 🔎 - Attendees list 👥 What's incredible about Huddl is that it took our team only 7 weeks to go from an idea to launch. The reality is that our user testing occurred live at the event itself, with 900+ attendees and platform activations. And I must say, based on the feedback, we are extremely satisfied with the pilot. Stay tuned for what's coming out of our Venture Studio.
