Severe Service & Dirty Service Quarter Turn Ball Valves - Global Supply Line’s manufacturers and Australian Pipeline Valve can supply unique alternatives to conventional ball valves. The problem with conventional ball valves whether they be soft seated or metal seated is that their life is reduced by the fact that entrained particulates/debris are scrapped across the ball through the full 90º motion of the ball, this also significantly increases the torque requiring a larger actuator and can cause sticking and jamming. There was a need to use third party valves in the project. I selected a manufacturer and requested torques for actuator selection.   After a while I received the necessary data. I started selecting actuators and realized that the manufacturer provided some very high torques. After all, it is known that ISO flange sizes correspond to certain torque ranges. And in that case there were huge torques and small ISO flanges.  I started to investigate and found out that my request had been processed successively by three different departments of the valve manufacturer. And each department felt it was their duty to add a safety factor, which in that case was about 40%.  

The AMF pneumatically operated pressure compensated Bottom Valve, functions as a primary valve, and is an internal self-closing stop valve. For example, the valve is manufactured with a shear off groove on the main body. Should the road tanker or the valve be affected by severe impact, the sealing capability will remain in place, thereby preventing any product leakage. In the event of an emergency, the valve can be opened by external mechanical means. Fitted with PTFE encapsulated O-rings this valve is compatible with a wide range of products. The strainer is in place to reduce the possibility of seal or seal damage by foreign objects.
