Would you take a pillion passenger or not? This is a subject which can cause some heat amongst motorcyclists. One colleague in the office says 100% no, it ruins the ride, while others are happy to take a partner or a friend on the back. How do you feel about this? https://lnkd.in/eBU4kwuh

Always remember to do a Shoulder Check when you're about to turn! At Easy Life Driving Coach, we stress the importance of double-checking over your shoulder—not just once, but twice! The first check should be done right when you signal. It’s your chance to scope out your surroundings early. If you spot a cyclist or another vehicle, you’ll have ample time to adjust your actions safely. The second check is crucial right before you make the turn. Sometimes, vehicles, especially cyclists, can sneak up beside you while you're stopped at an intersection. A glance ensures no surprises! Please remember that a proper shoulder check can distinguish between a safe turn and a close call. Whether changing lanes, turning, or pulling over, a shoulder check could save your life! #EasyLifeDrivingCoach #ShoulderCheck #SafeDriving #DriveSafe #roadsafetytips

May is the month that unofficially marks the beginning of the summer road travel season. It is the time when families and friends come together to plan their summer vacations and road trips. Motorcycles present unique challenges for drivers such as: • Judging motorcycle speed. • When motorcyclists gear down to reduce speed, their brake lights don't illuminate. • Turn signals on motorcycles do not always reset like a car. • Radio use or engine noise can limit the motorcyclists’ ability to hear your vehicle approaching. How you can avoid and reduce hazards: • Double-check for blind spots. • Increase your following distance. • Watch for turn signals and lane location. • Don’t rush an intersection turn. Let's all do our part to share the road responsibly. #MotorcycleAwarenessMonth #SafetyFirst

Progress? Whatever happened to common sense? Rental car, country road and a flat tyre now means a 2 hour wait for roadside assistance and a €165 bill! When I was a lad it would have taken 10 minutes to remove the flat and put the spare on but someone, somewhere decided that spare tyres were not necessary! An idiotic, dangerous decision! This has certainly made me aware of the stupidity of modern car design and will be a major factor when I next buy a car! #idiotic #dangerous #unsafe #unroadworthy

Do you ride a motorcycle? Well if you do, I am sure I don’t need to tell you how to take care of your tyres as from my personal experience you are all VERY good at doing this. However, if you are new to the motorbike scene you may not be as clued up. Here a few tips to help before you venture out this year to ride with friends, family or just on your own 🏍️ Tip 1- Tread The minimum tread depth is 1mm for motorbike tyres over 50cc so if you are above that perfect, if you are below.. well you need to get yourself to a garage ASAP and invest in a new set. Tip 2-Condition You only have 2 wheels so therefore taking extra care is vital to make sure nothing bad happens whilst enjoying your time on the bike. So make sure to look for any foreign objects, damage to the tyre and make sure they are in good condition. Tip 3- Air Having the correct air pressure in your tyres paramount. This can affect your stability and control. Running tyres over or under inflated could be life changing so make sure to fill them to the recommended PSI in your bike handbook. And finally, whilst the weather is getting warmer this does not mean a protective layer should be removed. DRESS FOR THE SLIDE, NOT THE RIDE. Think BIKE 🏍️ 👍 Clare Burscough/Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service/Maeving
