The Student Surge 🤝 Kiosks Every school term brings a flood of student customers—exciting, but often chaotic. What if you could keep the rush without the chaos? That’s where Kiosks come in! 💖 Students love them, and so will you. Here’s how kiosks can transform your restaurant: 🍽️ Boost Capacity & Order Value: Kiosks streamline the ordering process, allowing more students to place orders in less time— and orders via kiosk are on average 30% higher in value 💸 👨🍳 Reduce Staff Stress: With kiosks handling the bulk of orders, your team can focus on prepping food, not taking orders. Less pressure, smoother operations. 💳 Upfront Payment 🎟️ Efficient Order Pickup ✅ Fewer Errors: With students inputting their own orders, mistakes drop, and accuracy goes up! Bring in the surge, without the stress. Set up kiosks and watch your restaurant thrive during those busy school periods! 🚀 Chat to us https://lnkd.in/ep3BuKkg

Sometimes overdelivering is the wrong thing to do. I once read that if McDonalds introduced silver cutlery it would be a waste of money. That immediately makes sense right? But I’m not talking about silver cutlery in the wrong setting here. I launched my course and community for parents in February and in addition to gaining access to the library of videos I’d created, there was a monthly live group call. Then I decided to up that to twice weekly calls. I thought it would make joining the community more attractive. And mean that members had more choice and flexibility. But I made a mistake. What ended up happening was that I was often sitting alone in the zoom room. Or one person would join and have a one-on-one with me which was lovely of course, but which somewhat defeated the object of creating the shared solidarity and camaraderie of a community. I reached out to the members and asked them what they thought about the frequency of calls. They all said that because they were so frequent there was no urgency to join one. They didn’t mark their calendars or ringfence the time to attend. Because just like buses, there’d be another one along soon enough. And so I’ve shifted now to twice monthly calls, one in the evening and one at lunchtime. I’ve not hosted a community before. I’m still learning. If you’re creating something new; > Stay humble. > Take feedback. > And don’t assume that you know what your clients want or need. #parenting #parentchildrelationship #thisishowwechangetheworld Thankfully the rest of the feedback has been pretty phenomenal. Here’s what one of the founding members has to say about her experience so far ⬇️ Thanks Ciara 🧡

Big businesses dominate the provision of free lunches in schools. Research suggests schools catering in-house produce less food and packaging waste as they can readily respond to students’ tastes and needs. But about 82% of the Ka Ora, Ka Ako funding goes to commercial contractors, with few schools able or willing to provide catering themselves, MOE data shows.

To all of the lovely educators, family of educators, partners of educators, etc. in my #LinkedIn network, here are some of my fave #TeacherAppreciationWeek deals that top restaurant brands are doing something special for them this year: BurgerFi: 20% discount on all orders with a valid ID from Monday, May 6, to Sunday, May 12. Huddle House: Teachers get a free meal from Monday to Friday, May 6-10. Students can also nominate a teacher to win free meals for a year (award given at each participating location). Insomnia Cookies: All teachers and school staff who show a valid ID will get a free Classic cookie in-store, no purchase necessary, all week beginning Monday, May 6. Logan's Roadhouse: Teachers get 20% off their entrée this week. Just show a valid badge. McAlister's Deli: Teachers and educators can get free tea – either one big Sweet Tea, Unsweet Tea, ½ Sweet & ½ Unsweet Tea, or ½ Lemonade & ½ Sweet/Unsweet Tea (flavor shots excluded) – at McAlister's Deli from Monday, May 6, to Sunday, May 12, with your badge or ID Noodles & Company: Parents, school administrators, and educators alike can get $15 off catering orders of $100 or more through May 17, perfect for large lunches or after school celebrations Whataburger: Via the Whatateacher deal, school employees can get a free Taquito, Breakfast on a Bun, or Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. local time Monday, May 6, to Friday, May 10 with ID. Across 15 states! There's many more deals out there across the different retailers, but those are the ones hosted by some of my favorite, every day brands that also last through the week (as I missed yesterday, WHOOPS) 🤣 These deals are also inclusive of powerhouses in education like Ms. Kathleen Gosser, Ph.D., 💥Jo Ann Herold, MBA, Kirk Brown, etc. As a recovering Teacher's Pet, I urge y'all to treat the special educator, or educators, in your lives with the same amount of appreciation 365 days of the year... especially teachers are on average earning 5% less than they (or their counterparts) did in 2014. This is a painting I found in one of the recovery meeting spaces done by a Sunday School kiddo, btw. I wish I was this talented. #TeamHarri #EmployeeExperience #EducatorLove

😤Vent moment. I guess everybody is on board to get ready for the Super Bowl this weekend. For many that means getting the shopping done, making sure we have plenty of snacks and adult beverages, making sure that we have enough bowls and seating for all of our friends to enjoy the big game. But what does that mean to so many other people? What does that mean for the people who waited till the last minute and decided that they needed to get their shopping done before the big rush, (the big rush is already happened). It means waking up on Friday and realizing you're not ready, you didn't get all your stuff done. So what's a person to do? Simple, I'll just call off Friday afternoon to get my stuff done. But what does that mean for everyone else at the job who does not share your worth ethic? Those who have the honesty and integrity to take care of their personal business on their personal time, and make sure that the job that they are getting paid for gets done. What happens to those folks who are still at the job that have to cover for you? It may mean doing twice the load to cover your decision not to handle your own affairs. Don't be "that guy", that decides to casually take off and let others take on the workload that you have agreed in your job to take care of. Not only do the internal customers at your workplace have to pick up the load and carry it for you, you also affect your external customers who are depending on your service and dependability to carry out the job assigned to you. Today, I received a desperate message from our dispatcher in the local school district. Apparently, several drivers decided to go MIA for this afternoon, leaving staff, supervisors, mechanics, and anyone else they could call including myself to fill the gaps. This afternoon not only will I transport a group of students from one school to another for their game, after I drop them off I will also run two school routes to cover an additional shortfall. Then I will go back and transport the students back to their school. Another staff member will cover the other portion of this driver's routes. This creates an impact not only to a staff member who has to cover the routes and additional person is called in to cover the remainder two assignments. In addition to this, the kids who would normally have a driver who knows their route and their stops is now faced with a substitute and possible delays with not knowing the route and the area. Parents are impacted because they are worried for their kids because the route is now late. Transport for a sports group is now delayed because the driver is not available to transport them on time. Our society has become so self-centered, that we have forgotten how our actions, or inactions manifest to those around us. Being a responsible adult is hard. Being an irresponsible adult is hard on the rest of us as well.

In the latest episode of my much-loved series - ‘things I haven’t done before’… …I want to talk about the C word in October. Now, regular readers (the lucky ones) will know that I don’t like Christmas and I would usually be saying that it shouldn’t be mentioned until December. However, the activity from Dunelm - at the link below - really caught my eye and left a lump in my throat. The chain of homewares stores has a programme titled ‘Delivering Joy’ which encourages customers to give a gift to someone deserving / less fortunate by picking a tag from their in-store Christmas tree, which will have a local person’s details on it. This serves as a very strong reminder that, as we will be moving into the party season, we may all have team members / people around us that are dreading the next few weeks, and that we shouldn’t presume that ‘one size fits all’. As a HR consultant, I will be sharing a few reminders between now and Christmas about the things we can do - as business owners and employers - to look after our teams and those around us, and how we should be treating everyone as individuals. Kudos to Dunelm for this programme, and it is absolutely something that I will be taking part in. 🚀 Day 22 of 100 Days Challenge: Number of Students Unable to Eat Lunch #problem_statement The school cafeteria offers circular and square sandwiches at lunch break, referred to by numbers 0 and 1 respectively. All students stand in a queue. Each student either prefers square or circular sandwiches. #Solution_Approach: We first count the number of students with each sandwich preference (square or circular bread). Then, we iterate through the sandwiches and check if there are any students left with the same preference as the current sandwich. If no matching preference is available, we count the remaining unsatisfied students. Finally, we return the count of unsatisfied students.

Two parents and no kids walk into a restaurant. It could be the start of a joke. But for us, this is why we’re building Pary Moppins – seriously. As parents ourselves, Sara (co-founder and mum to our three boys) and I know all too well how easy it is to forget to prioritise ourselves. The practical stuff gets in the way—no time, no energy, and never-ending to-do lists. But there’s also the guilt of putting yourself first now and then (so selfish!). Then, one day, we realised our batteries were only draining, and we weren’t recharging them enough. The batteries that keep you going—not just as an individual, but as a parent. The batteries that help you be the best parent you can be, instead of the stressed-out one you don’t want to become. Everyone recharges in different ways, but one powerful way is simply “going out.” Leaving the house. Whether it’s by yourself, with your partner, or a friend, just spending some time physically away from it all can make a huge difference. It’s not just about Deliveroo and Netflix on the sofa, sitting on stray Lego bricks. It’s something parents used to do spontaneously and regularly before kids—and something we barely tend to do after. So, we asked ourselves: What would it take to get parents out of the house more often? What’s holding them back? Since then, we’ve run tests and had countless conversations with other parents. Turns out it’s complicated. We all have our reasons, and we all have excuses too—but often, what we really need is someone who cares about us to step in and say: “You’re going out. I’ve got everything covered.” We’re building that “someone” for parents everywhere. We want to help parents switch off “parent mode” and recharge themselves—and each other. Because if kids can have everything taken care of for them, parents deserve that too. We’re starting with curated evenings out: getting parents a sitter they can trust, a restaurant they’ll love, and a plan that just works. Eventually, we want to make sure becoming a parent doesn’t mean putting yourself on hold. We've got quite a journey ahead. So, let's go! ------- Parents: sign up to our waitlist to be kept in the loop and to win an all-expenses-paid fully organised evening out. Link in comments. Not a parent (yet): Check out our xmas gift voucher for parents. Top up with a dinner budget or offer yourself as the volunteer babysitter to make it extra special. Link in comments.

As we approach the end of the school year, it’s time to think about teacher gifts. Instead of the usual coffee mug or gift card, why not do something unique? Stand out by pairing local treats with a Personality Plate. Although these boxed sets come with four plates, there’s no rule against splitting them up to create four separate gifts for those special teachers or coaches. You can even purchase individual plates at WIld Oats & Billy Goats stores or on their website. Give a gift that’s full of personality and joy, and show your appreciation in a memorable way. Delicious Nothing Bundt Cakes were used for this video. #teachergift #teachergifts #giftingideas #uniquegifts
