WiGH at #COP29 🎉 Together with our partners UNIDO and Hydrogen Council we are happy to announce our engagement at #COP29 in Azerbaijan! At an energizing morning conversation over coffee ☕, we will talk about the role of women with a solid track record in #hydrogen and connect insights on topics such as education, skills development, cultural dynamics, and policy incentives to promote gender equity in hydrogen. An outcome will also be ideas 💡 on what new resources (studies/surveys/training activities/knowledge products) would be useful to foster inclusivity in the hydrogen sector. Key questions ❔ we will seek to answer: What key bottlenecks remain in achieving gender parity in hydrogen? What are the best practices on gender empowerment from around the world, and what can we learn from them? Can the involvement of women in decision-making and community meetings help to improve the social acceptance of hydrogen? You have access to the blue Zone at COP29 and want to participate at our event? Kindly reach out to hello@wigh.network for additional information.

🌞🌍 Reflecting on ISA Solar Festival 2024: Fireside Chat on Gender Empowerment 🌍🌞 Honored to have been part of a powerful discussion at the #InternationalSolarFestival2024 Gender Pavilion! At the Fireside chat, joined by Vardhani Ratnala and Sushmita Ajwani, the discussions explored critical role of women in the renewable energy. Overall. the session highlighted that the importance of move beyond discussions of empowerment—where women’s role in renewable energy is not just beneficial, but essential. Here are some key takeaways from my suggestions at the session: 1. Barriers to Women’s Participation: Deep-rooted disparities faced by women in this sector, from limited access to education and training to gender-biased company policies. 2.Unlocking Opportunities: Increasing women’s participation can drive not only economic growth but also innovation and sustainable energy solutions. 3. Success Stories: Conversations showcased how women-led initiatives are transforming communities through sustainable energy solutions. 4. A Future Beyond Empowerment: We should be striving for a future where gender discussions are unnecessary because women will already be at the forefront of the clean energy transition. This session reinforced the idea that empowering women isn’t just a goal—it’s a necessity for the future of renewable energy. Let’s continue championing gender equality in energy and harness the power of women to drive the sustainable future we need. 💪🌱 #GenderEmpowerment #RenewableEnergy #WomenInEnergy #ISA2024 #SolarFestival #WomenLeadership #CleanEnergy #SolarFestival2024 #ISF2024 #GEAPP The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) #LetsChangeEnergy Vaishali Mishra #ICF Gurpreet Chugh, CFA Ajit Gupta International Solar Alliance

Ahead of #COP29 I had the honour to participate in a conversation about advancing gender responsive climate action hosted by ODI Europe and UN Women Europe and Central Asia. This year’s COP is both a gender and finance COP – the Lima Programme, with its’ the Gender Action Plan will be revisited, and a new finance goal will hopefully be adopted to better support developing countries to respond to the climate crisis and contribute to #climatejustice Both gender and finance are key issues to ensure a just and effective transition, and our case study from Rwanda about gender responsive climate finance shows that you can’t separate the two. Gender equality and women’s rights must not be sidelined to isolated conversations or platforms but put at the centre of discussions and negotiations about climate finance as well as budgetary matters for the UNFCCC secretariat. This is lessons learnt from working with the Women Peace and Security agenda for 30 years. Follow the money. Change requires resources and mandate. Today only 0,01 % of global climate finance goes towards projects tackling both climate change and women’s rights, according to UNDP. So much remains to be done in order for the transition to be truly transformative and strengthen equality rather than confirm discriminatory structures and concentrate decision making among elites. Kvinna till Kvinna is pushing for a strong recoursed Gender Action Plan and to ✔️Clearly link the Climate Finance goal to the Gender Action Plan ✔️Decentralise climate finance, to ensure influence and access from local communities. Interesting to look at Green Climate Fund’s Enhanced Direct Access programme. ✔️Fund and involve women’s organisation to ensure effective climate action and responses. Extra important due to the current global backlash on gender equality, this also plays out in the COP arena. ✔️Ensure national gender climate focal points with strong mandate, status and recourses. ✔️Increase climate funding to programmes where gender is principle objective. ✔️Increase transparency to make it easier to track funding. Donor must use gender and climate markers consistently and require that assessments of programmes are accessible - are short/to the point and available in local languages. Use language that people understand, and avoid too technical terms and abbreviations. CLIMATE CHANGE AND GREEN GROWTH: GENDER AND RENEWABLE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY.. #ClimateChange is one of the most pressing issues of our time, with far-reaching consequences for the environment, economy, and society. #GreenGrowth is an approach that aims to achieve sustainable development while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. #GenderEquality is a critical component of green growth, as women are disproportionately affected by climate change and have a vital role to play in addressing it. #RenewableSustainableEnergy is a key driver of green growth, offering a cleaner, more sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. In this context, it's essential to examine the #nexus between climate change, green growth, gender equality, and renewable sustainable energy. ■This includes: ●The impacts of climate change on women and girls, who are often the most vulnerable to its effects, such as food insecurity and water scarcity. ●The role of women in climate change mitigation and adaptation, including their leadership in renewable energy development and sustainable land use. ●Gender-responsive policies and programming for green growth, which ensure that women's needs and perspectives are taken into account. ●The benefits and challenges of renewable energy for gender equality, including increased energy access and economic empowerment. ●Successful case studies and best practices, such as community-led renewable energy projects and gender-inclusive energy policies. ■Additionally, we must consider: ●The intersectionality of gender with other social factors, such as race, class, and age, which can exacerbate climate change impacts. ●The importance of women's participation and leadership in climate decision-making and policy development. ●The need for gender-responsive climate finance and investment in renewable energy. ●The role of education and capacity-building in promoting gender equality and renewable energy development. ●The potential for renewable energy to create jobs and stimulate local economies, benefiting women and marginalized communities. By exploring these intersections and considering these additional factors, we can identify effective solutions that promote gender equality, support green growth, and address climate change through renewable sustainable energy. 💜#IWD2024 Report vol.2 COP Japan 🚹:🚺= 12:1 but #InspireInclusion 🫶 On 7th of March, I and YuHsin Chang co-hosted an event and we had an open-discussion on women and inclusion. We mainly talked about the highly limited women’s presence and the bias in Japanese work-place in the past, and acknowledged the remaining circumstances. We got to speak up and together learned an array of perspectives. And I can only describe it was very meaningful and valuable. As an only woman at COP Japan, it was a challenge to invite to the topic specifically about women however, I ended up finding out they have no doubt in the potential and capability of girls and women. COP Japan hopes that there will be more women in the offshore wind industry and is here to encourage girls and women 🙌 Copenhagen Offshore Partners #COPJapan #LifeAtCop #COPportunity #Offshorewind 🇯🇵🤝🇩🇰 We prepared flower for each of them to bring home, just because it was IWD 💐

Sarvpriye Foundation believes in the power of action over mere words. Our journey has been rooted in uplifting women through sustainable entrepreneurship, empowering them to lead change in their communities. Through transformative initiatives like Prakritik and Stri Star, we've helped hundreds of women artisans rise above adversity and contribute to the green economy. Whether it's combating domestic violence or promoting eco-friendly livelihoods. Our work stands as a true testament to the measurable impact we can have when we enable women and prioritize sustainability. The theme of this year’s COP29 Azerbaijan deeply resonates with Sarvpriye’s mission, especially with our focus on Sustainable Financing & Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in addressing the climate crisis. This aligns perfectly with the session I will be speaking at COP 29, where we will explore how to integrate sustainable financing and equity into climate solutions. I look forward to connecting with like-minded organizations and individuals who share our passion for sustainable and inclusive climate action. Let's unite at COP 29 to ensure sustainable finance and equity are at the heart of our climate initiatives! #COP29 #SustainableFinance #GenderEquality #SocialInclusion #ClimateAction #GreenEconomy #WomenEmpowerment #SarvpriyeFoundation #ClimateJustice #GESI #SustainableDevelopment

𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 • 1 November 2024 Articles At COP28, the world agreed to triple installed renewable power capacity to over 11 TW globally by 2030 to stay on a 1.5°C-aligned pathway. While this is primarily a climate goal, achieving it will generate substantial positive impacts on people’s lives. Here are five reasons to accelerate the energy transition beyond climate goals: 1. Job Creation Jobs are of great importance in any economy. They represent a tangible benefit that empowers individuals, providing them with the means to support themselves and their families. The renewable energy sector is booming with job opportunities across various skill levels. According to IRENA figures, the renewable energy sector added 2.5 million jobs in 2023 alone. Today, more than 16.2 million people are employed by the renewable energy sector. With a higher representation of women compared to oil and gas sectors, renewables also present an opportunity to improve gender equality in the workforce.
