What can be considered a barrier or challenge in one setting can be a huge asset in another. An inclusive workplace not only celebrates individual differences, but also harnesses them when building teams that can do amazing things together. Neurodiversities, learning differences, and disabilities are not necessarily a barrier. For example, pattern recognition that is often strong in individuals with ADHD may be a huge asset in radiology, crime analysis, or financial analyst roles. It's important to match strengths to roles so that everyone shines like the light that they are. Employees from different generations can build strong teams by capitalizing on the crystallized intelligence of one group and the well-developed fluid reasoning of another. If you're not sure of your core strengths or just need a reminder, ask those around you. Inclusion matters.

As you celebrate #MFGMonth24 in October and #MFGDay24 (the first Friday of October), don't forget to highlight #manufacturing employees and community members that are #UniquelyAbled as well as #OhioManufacturers that make allowances that enable more disabled individuals to be employed and thrive! I never thought halfway through my career that I would become physically disabled and become a #WalkingBillboard; but I'm so proud of this Ohio agency's efforts to encourage Ohio businesses to be inclusive! ⚙️10% of the U.S. labor pool between the ages of 16 and 64, which is a whopping 22 Million people, have a disability. ⚙️Out of that pool of 22 Million Disabled individuals, 14 Million people are not currently employed and they are available to work! ⚙️Engaging these 14 Million people would significantly impact the #LaborShortages that 82% of U.S. manufacturers report they are experiencing. I want to personally encourage Ohio Manufacturers to research the many no to low cost ways to accomodate this enthusiastic population of #FutureWorkforce candidates!! #OhioLovesManufacturers | #NDEAM | #Accessibility | #OhioMEP
