Did you know 👉 1-in-5 company car drivers would consider a hydrogen vehicle if the refuelling infrastructure was in place, according to a new survey from Venson Automotive Solutions.  🚘 30% of drivers would only consider electric and 22% of drivers would only consider hydrogen.🔋 Comparing these results with a similar survey carried out by Venson in 2021, it shows an increased interest in both hydrogen and electric, as just 11% would have considered hydrogen and 18% electric in 2021. We know that fuel for transport is a scope 1 emission and there is lots of debate about the environmental impact of electric vehicles especially if the electricity comes from coal or gas fired power stations. Also worth noting is electric HGV’s with the current reality of actual range so always interested in hydrogen and will it ever get wide spread adoption?

One-in-five company car drivers would consider a hydrogen vehicle if the refuelling infrastructure was in place, according to a new survey from Venson Automotive Solutions. More than third (37%) of drivers said they would consider both hydrogen and electric vehicle (EV) options when choosing their next company car – 30% would only consider electric and 22% would only consider hydrogen.

What type of businesses are considering hydrogen fleets? When we started developing our fuel cell light #commercialvehicles, we predicted that utility companies and construction businesses would be the most interested in our vans. And they are! After all they need to travel longer distances, carry heavy loads, power equipment and tow, duties that hydrogen-powered vehicles can manage better than #batteryelectricvehicles. However, we didn't anticipate the demand we have received from the #lastmile delivery sector. Most last mile delivery fleets will likely choose battery electric (BEV) as their core propulsion technology due to the competitive total cost of ownership (TCO) and performance of the vehicles in urban routes. CPB Contractors' two new Mirai fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) are powered by hydrogen-fueled engines and have replaced fossil-fueled counterparts in Melbourne and Brisbane. But, how do we refuel them?🤔 🔦We refuel at Toyota Motor Corporation Australia’s Product Centre in Melbourne and at a specialised hydrogen fuelling station at the Port of Brisbane. ⏩What's next? As access to hydrogen fuelling facilities becomes available in other States, we'll look to acquire more FCEV vehicles, which convert hydrogen and air into electricity through an onboard fuel cell. And so it finally came to pass....our first paying customer on our newly commissioned EV fast chargers. He gave good feedback too.! It's a public service as well as a signal for the future. To get these over the line was a feat in itself so my thanks to the team at Tritium, ChargeFox, EnergyPro, Rivercity Solutions and Denis our Facility Manager. It takes a village to install EV Chargers! Hopefully they will be well supported by the local community and gradually tradies will see the value in moving to EV Utes. They're coming! I envisage one day not not too far away when the power provided to a construction site to run all the tools etc., will be from the utes parked out front. Using your asset (EV ute) to yield $ while stationary - clever! Anyone fortunate to be around the Precinct on Thursday 18th July will see an LDV eT60 fully electric Ute as well as two Ford F-150 Lightning fully electric utes parked in the charging bays. Switching to EVs can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50% compared to conventional internal combustion engine cars.
