A shame that one of Soccer's great stars, Erling Haalaand might never play at the FIFA Men's World Cup except FIFA/EUFA changes something (rules) critically. I know we got more teams for 2026 but its not a given Norway will make it. With a new era of football stars birthed, that change is critical to the global marketability and appeal of the sport. If he misses 2026, he's going to be 29 when the next WC takes place in Morocco/Portugal and Spain, 2030. Every sport needs its stars at the BIGGEST stage. #SoccerBiz #SportMarketability #SportMarketing

Marcello Lippi [Italian coach], 2006: "It was a clear penalty. Grosso was brought down in the box, and the referee made the correct decision." The scene: Australia makes the round of 16 at the 2006 World Cup. The furthest we've ever made it. 0-0 with less than a minute to go until extra time!! And then this bulls*** Italians I guess swear it was a penalty, Australians can't deal with the falling-on-the-ground rubbish that some countries call 'the beautiful game'. So, let's give it to SoterGenius. First, I put the FIFA regulations into the knowledge base so the tool can refer to the regulations [you see, this post is is actually a clever way 😲 to show you how our solution works to analyze compliance to regulations, including to those uploaded by a user] And the result. SIMULATION (results at the end of the video) This is why VAR now exists. Italy ended up winning this World Cup. Based on my SoterGenius analysis, I conclude that Australia basically won the 2006 World Cup 🎉 [ignoring if we would have made it to the end of extra time, won the penalty shootout, and then defeated 🇺🇦 , 🇩🇪 and 🇫🇷 in the next finals]

FIFA WORLD CUP - QATAR 2022 Technical Study Group 1-"Defending in a medium block has proven to be a popular strategy out of possession for teams reaching the later rounds of the competition, with all four semi-finalists preferring the medium block as their dominant phase of play out of possession." 2-"20 more goals were scored from crosses in 2022 (45) than in 2018 (25), while there was a 12% increase in shots from crosses." 3-"The role of the number 9 changed during the FIFA World Cup Qatar, returning to something more akin to a traditional center forward rather than the 'mobile 9' that has become increasingly common in last years." 4-"On average, goalkeepers occupied positions 1.3m higher on the pitch than in 2018 and played on average 1.0m closer to their defensive line." #football #footballinternational #Brazilianfootball #worldfootball #Europeanfootball #Americansoccer #Asiafootball https://lnkd.in/dj8JS3YW

Luis de la Fuente's approach has been praised and has resulted in a more dynamic and resilient squad capable of adapting to different opponents and match situations. It promotes the importance of the ideology of 'having versatility in creativity'. Versatility in creativity is a vital asset in sports, where athletes and teams must constantly adapt to dynamic and unpredictable conditions. #euro2024 #football #teamperformance

The quarter final match between France and Portugal will be a riveting one, after France as the host in 2016, was defeated by a Portugal squad not as good as the present Portugal squad. The latter triumphed despite being underdogs. France, will face a tougher Portugal this time around, making for a quarter-final filled with so much poise. France arguably got their best redemption by winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup after two years of losing in the finals of a continental championship they hosted. That being said, revenge for the 2016 loss will still definitely be in the offing. It is also worthwhile to note the following; 1. France are yet to score from open play in the tournament, with their only goals coming from a penalty by Kylian Mbappe and two goals from the opposing team. 2. Portugal do have a record of ups and downs in the tournament, with two wins, a loss to Georgia, and a win over Slovenia via penalty shootouts. You all should brace yourselves for a pulsating encounter! #Sports #Football #Euros

UEFA vs. FIFA 8:48 UEFA announced the new format of UEFA European U-17 and U-17 championships on 26 September 2023 (https://lnkd.in/dB6P5Nac & https://lnkd.in/dePMs7_c — last updated: Sunday, April 7, 2024). In particular, UEFA decreased the number of participants in the U-17 final tournament from 16 to 8 beginning on 2025. FIFA reported about changes to FIFA World Cup U-17 on 14 March 2024 (https://lnkd.in/dnCMsUDe). Since 2025, the number of participants of the tournament will increase from 24 to 48. The championship will also be held annually rather than biennially from 2025. Meanwhile, the U-17 tournament was played for odd dates of birth, and the FIFA U-20 World Cup was conducted for evens. The new format has not yet been announced. The number of UEFA’s participants is unknown. In the last competition, 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, five European association teams played (https://lnkd.in/df56PtyZ). UEFA reduced twice the number of teams in the U-17 tournament. FIFA expanded it double. Gigantomania on the march!? #nationalteam

The Latest Men's World Football Rankings - July 2024 1 Argentina 2 France 3 Spain 4 England 5 Brazil 6 Belgium 7 Netherlands 8 Portugal 9 Colombia 10 Italy Full list - https://lnkd.in/ehJJMwFD After long period testing and analysing the best way to calculate the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, a new model took effect in August 2018 after approval by the FIFA Council. This new version developed by FIFA was named "SUM" as it relies on adding/subtracting points won or lost for a game to/from the previous point totals rather than averaging game points over a given time period as in the previous version of the World Ranking. The points which are added or subtracted are partially determined by the relative strength of the two opponents, including the logical expectation that teams higher in the ranking should fare better against teams lower in the ranking. More details about the formula used in the algorithm, weightings of matches and other characteristics can be found in the link in the comments. So how did your country do? Up or down? #kickoff #morethanfootball #fifa #cocacola #worldrankings #footballbusiness #footballtechnology

Portugal vs Slovenia, penalty shootout—the first in the 2024 Euros. And, did it break records. This was the shortest penalty shootout in both Euros and FIFA World Cup history. The previous record was 7 penalties taken, once in the Euros (Turkey vs Croatia) and on three different occasions in the FIFA World Cup. Diogo Costa became the first men's goalie to EVER save three penalties in a shootout at the Euros. While just scrolling through Diogo Costa's heroics last night, I came across Geir Jordet and his book "Pressure: Lessons from the Psychology of the Penalty Shootout." Jordet discusses how the moments before a penalty shootout can teach us valuable lessons about managing pressure. Fascinatingly, during EACH of the penalty shootouts in 2022 World Cup, the teams that won were those whose managers spent the shortest time giving instructions after extra time. Naturally, I checked if Portugal finished their instructions before Slovenia did, and they did! This teaser by Geir has intrigued me enough that I am looking so forward to reading his book. Disappointing Day for Football 🚨 Today, we witnessed an appalling moment in the FIFA World Cup qualifier match between India and Qatar. Qatar Football Association illegal goal against India was a disgrace to fair play and sportsmanship. The lack of VAR for World Cup qualifiers is inexcusable, and the officials' failure to make accurate decisions on the field today was truly disheartening. FIFA 's refusal to implement VAR in such crucial matches is a blatant oversight that undermines the integrity of the game. How can we expect fair competition when the technology that ensures correct decisions is absent? This incident not only reflects poorly on Qatar Football but also raises serious questions about FIFA's commitment to fairness and accuracy in the sport. To see the beautiful game tarnished by such actions is a sad day for football fans worldwide. We demand better from both the players and the governing bodies to maintain the sanctity of the sport we love. #FIFA #Football #WorldCupQualifiers #FairPlay #IntegrityInSport #FootballIndia #QatarFootball #Disappointment #VAR #Sportsmanship #FairCompetition
