At NEOL, we deeply appreciate the rich history of the lubricants industry. Our technology is a milestone that can transform the current landscape within the world of lubricants and build on the legacy of past innovations. With that in mind, let's go back and take a look at 5 historical innovations that changed everything for us all in the lubricants industry... 1. Ancient Egyptian Resourcefulness (2600 BCE) 🏺 • Discovery: Beef and mutton could be used as sled lubricants • Impact: Enabled construction of pyramids by reducing friction in heavy stone transport 2. The Wheel Revolution (1400 BCE) 🛞 • Discovery: Tallow and lime powder mixture could be used as a lubricant for chariot axles • Impact: Faster, more efficient transportation and warfare capabilities 3. Leonardo da Vinci's Breakthrough (1490) 🎨 • Discovery: Ball bearings with separators that reduced friction • Impact: Created a foundational design still used in modern machinery today 4. The Birth of Petroleum Lubricants (1859) 🛢️ • Discovery: First oil well drilled by Colonel William Drake • Impact: Sparked modern petroleum industry and industrial revolution 5. Synthetic Revolution (1929) 🧪 • Discovery: Synthetic hydrocarbons developed by Standard Oil of Indiana • Impact: Improved base oil performance and enabled the creation of lubricants for extreme conditions What historical lubricant discovery intrigues you most? #LubricantHistory #Innovation

The first workshop of the #TiReX project was successfully held at the Wydział Inżynierii Lądowej Politechniki Warszawskiej in Warsaw, Poland. The two-day event explored non-destructive testing methods for reclaimed #timber, aiming to unlock pathways for sustainable reuse in construction. Dr Andrea Lucherini and Tomaz Pazlar represented FRISSBE and ZAG - Zavod za gradbeništvo Slovenije, contributing to the collaborative efforts and discussions alongside project partners. Special thanks to Katarzyna Ostapska, Jan Pełczyński, and the entire team for their work and to ForestValue2 for supporting this important research. 📽️ Watch the #video shared by the TiReX team to see highlights of this fruitful workshop.
In November, the first workshop was held as part of the #TiReXproject scientific project. We spent two days at Wydział Inżynierii Lądowej Politechniki Warszawskiej. We focused on non-destructive testing of timber obtained from a hundred-year-old tenement house in Warsaw's Praga district. Our goal is to determine a method for assessing wooden elements that will enable their reuse in construction. Thanks Katarzyna Ostapska, Andrea Lucherini, Tomaz Pazlar for two really fruitful days. Thanks for ForestValue2 and NCN Narodowe Centrum Nauki for making the research possible.

We are proud to showcase one of our innovations - A tundish crafted from high-purity alumina. The tundish, a container with holes in the bottom, is designed to regulate the flow of molten metal into moulds. The tundish thus helps prevent splashing and ensures smoother distribution. Another crucial property is its reliability in handling molten superalloys. This is vital in producing high-quality components for aerospace and other critical defence applications. CUMI's high-purity alumina tundish represents a significant advancement in material handling technology and will help play a vital role in national security and fostering a safer world. #CUMI #materialsscience

Railways as it has connected diverse geographies it has impacted its local economy. It's the most efficient way to connect people and goods with places and is the most sustainable mode of transport. Its has evolved from 1500's horse driven wagonways(Germany) to Steam engines(England) to modern day Bullet/Maglev Train(Japan). Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) trains use power electromagnets to levitate thereby reducing the friction to achieve high speeds(Max recorded-600 KM/hour). Due to its permanent magnet characteristics, Samarium-Cobalt or Neodymium iron boron based permanent magnets made from Rare Earth elements (REE) are used in Maglev trains and Did you know you can use PerkinElmer ICPMS for characterizing these REE materials. #Railways #Bullettrains #REE #ICPMS Image Credit: Global Times

Revolution in Rifle Bullet Production Directly from Strip: No need for cup annealing (significant cost reduction) No need for water treatment linked to the annealing process (significant cost reduction) Reduction in floor space required for the production line for rifle calibers: 5.56x45 5.56x39 7.62x51 7.62x39 Soviet 300 AAC Blackout 12.7x99 12.7x108 With a 3-figure zig-zag system, coil roll changeover times are reduced by 65% INVERNIZZI PRESSE supports eco-innovation in the manufacturing sector, combining sustainability and economic efficiency. Our improvements promote the "green economy" ethic by reducing environmental risks through: the optimized use of resources and clean energy, waste reduction and ecosystem conservation. We are committed to helping our customers reduce their economic and environmental footprint. Our state-of-the-art transfer press technology for BULLET production significantly reduces: Electric energy Gas Water Pickling acids Purification processes Waste disposal Maintenance Space Logistics Personnel costs This innovation minimizes production costs; the production of bullets directly from strip removes the need for annealing and related water/acid treatments, thereby reducing production costs and space demands for calibers like 5.56x45, 7.62x51, 7.62x39 Soviet, 300 AAC Blackout, 12.7x99, and 12.7x108. Our approach not only prioritizes environmental compatibility but also enhances profitability and operational efficiency. #ammunition #ammo #bullets #munition #bullet #rifle

As part of our research and development on Beles, we have had a field visit to Eastern Zone of Tigray, to see the potential of Beles. Here is the cactus fiber and its orientation. Nature has something to say here. Can we adopt modeling of fiber orientation and mechanics of natural fiber reinforced composites from this picture?
