The Startup Sectoral Conclave, featuring participation from several startup companies, was inaugurated today in Thiruvananthapuram. Companies from diverse fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Big Data & Analytics, Advanced Manufacturing, and Robotics, took part in the event. The conclave hosted multiple sessions discussing available grants, schemes, and scale-up initiatives for startups. According to the latest Global Startup Ecosystem Report, Kerala’s startup ecosystem has achieved growth five times the global average. The government is providing extensive support to startups leveraging innovative technologies and is committed to extending the same level of support to non-IT startups as those in the IT sector. Sectoral meetings have already been organized in areas such as Robotics, Maritime, Logistics, High-Tech Farming, Ayurveda, Food Processing, Biotechnology, Recycling & Waste Management, Tourism, and Life Sciences. Additionally, industrial roadshows were conducted in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi, with international roadshows planned next. Following this, the Vizhinjam Conclave will be organized to explore the potential of Vizhinjam Port. These initiatives are part of a series of events leading up to the Invest Kerala Global Summit. Successfully executing these events will set the stage for the summit, scheduled to be held in Kochi on February 21-22, 2025. Founded by Shailendra Tiwari and Ananda Verma in 2018, Fasal  is a precision horticulture platform that leverages AI, crop sciences and IoT to provide farm-level, crop-specific and crop-stage-specific intelligence to enable resource optimisation (water, pesticides, etc) and higher farm productivity. It also claims to procure high quality, traceable produce for an end-to-end optimised value chain play. The startup earns revenue from sale of IoT devices and components and agricultural goods. Besides, it also earns revenue from sale of services through software subscription charges. According to its annual financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Fasal earned over 90% of its revenue through the sale of agricultural goods, specifically fruits. Revenue from sale of fruits surged 126.5% to INR 30.8 Cr in FY24 from INR 13.6 Cr in FY23. Meanwhile, revenue from sale of IoT devices and components declined to INR 2.1 Cr during the year under review from INR 3.5 Cr in FY23. Revenue from services was almost flat at INR 1.1 Cr. Including other income, Fasal’s total revenue grew nearly 90% to INR 35.5 Cr in FY24 from INR 18.8 Cr in the previous fiscal year. Kerala to Launch ‘Year of Investments’ After Global Summit: Minister P. Rajeeve Kerala will launch the ‘Year of Investments’ initiative in 2025, focusing on ventures that leverage the state’s skilled workforce and thriving Startup ecosystem, Minister for Industries, P. Rajeeve, announced at the Startup Conclave. The event, organized by KSIDC, served as a precursor to the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS) 2025, scheduled for February 21-22 in Kochi. Dr. Rathan U. Kelkar, Secretary, Electronics & IT, presented the concept of an Emerging Technology Hub (ETH) focusing on space tech, agritech, healthtech, energy, and AVGC-XR. S. Harikishore, Managing Director, KSIDC, stated that 200 startups will be invited to the summit. “KSIDC gathers feedback to strengthen the startup ecosystem and foster collaborations among startups and stakeholders. Recently, I came to read an interesting blog on agri-tech startups and how they revolutionize agriculture practices in India. Just sharing some of my thoughts on the same as I felt the importance in a country where agriculture remains as the backbone of the economy. As we move towards the goal of sustainable development, most of the entrepreneurs have identified the importance of bringing practices for sustaining agriculture. Entrepreneurs, innovators, techies, and even scientists are running behind in creating sophisticated technologies for shaping the future of this sector. Increasing digital literacy and easy access made tremendous growth in the Agritech industry. Along with that, the increased demand for high-quality breeder seeds highly influenced the growth.
